This is just blowing things way out of proportion. I see all these ridiculous posts from some of the so called 'Line Holders' and can't help but cringe, yet they claim gaming is being ruined by evil corporations. If you really want to find out who is ruining gaming all you need to do is look in the mirror.

So........ TRUE. Image IPB

Sigh, nothing they said breaks any advertising laws. If they had said "enjoy exciting vehical combat!" and there was no vehicals in the whole game, then thats false advertising. Nothing they said was.

I miss being able to insult people on these forums

Or was it because Churchill got him banned from Xbox Live? I'll have to dig up a history book.

True, there was never any mention of a rainbow and bunnies ending with their virtual waifus/manfus in their advertising.

I think I have a credible basis to sue Bioware on the basis that Mass Effect 3 caused Hitler to start WWII. I mean we've seen the YouTube videos of him complaining about the ending.

aw man i needed a good chuckle i think the court has real issues to worry abought instead of a video game

$210 million just in physical sales, not to mention dlc and ce editions.  Yeah.  It's totally tiny.  It needs to be more like $500 million amirite?

i believe the courts are more worried about things like murderers id theft major stuff like that

i can honestly see an episode of judge judy taking this mass effect 3 case and i can see her telling the guy grow up and then kick him out and fine him for waisting the courts time

You do realize there are small claims courts right?  Plus in a country where a burglar can successfully sue a homeowner for injuries when falling from a roof..... anything is possible

If you're talking about the US dont forget to add that guy who sued a tobacco company for giving him cancer after a life time of smoking it, despite the labels it's carried warning you about it in recent years ^^

I also dont agree with people suing bioware, not only is it a waste of time it hardly gives those of us opposing the endings a positive image.

well i smoke and cancer is in my family so im not gona be a whiney person and just go whawhawha about it and run to the fed about it to demand i am owed something

and plus can you prove how a games ending damaged anyone?

its a laughable case and a waste of tax payer money

If radically different ending scenarios can be left up to interpretation so can damages.

you need to be more specific as to what you mean

There was no false advertising, there was false promises, HUGE difference, find me an ADVERTISEMENT that is false. Not what some developer said in an interview, that is not an ad.

Plus the things were said in the development phase, where anything is subject to change without notice.

Good luck with that. I'm sure EA won't hire a bunch of advocates that ram you into the ground again and again.

Whether or not you enjoyed the conclusion to Mass Effect 3 (personally I feel
it tarnished an otherwise masterful series) please take a look at the
pre-release quotes below from websites and interviews with the game's
developers, writers and producers.

Does all that talk of meaningful player choice, multiple significantly
different endings and closure for the characters and series not seem,
at the very least, strange?

There is no legal precedence for this.  You can't sue someone because the author or dev team didn't wrap up a book/movie/game the way you wanted.

As for "meaningful choices" issue, that is purely a matter of opinion.  You may not have been satisfied with the way they were presented but other people are.

You remind me of the woman trying to sue the distributor of "Drive" (the movie) because there wasn't enough driving in the movie for her despite its presence in the trailer.  You have too much time, too much money, or maybe both if you're really advocating for this.

In the future before purchasing a product I would suggest doing some research on the finished product.

I think we'll see an end to this when either someone claims that the ending gave them cancer or people stop being idiots.

So the former most likely.

When I say radically different what does it mean to you?  It's probably different than it means to me.  But technically all 3 endings can end the same way based on the interpretation of a Mass Effect 2 DLC.  So what is radically different?  That came from the official website.  Damages can also be relative.  If you make $100k a year, a $60 hit is different than someone making minimum wage that might be the only game he buys all year.  Plus some people were clinically depressed if what they said were true.  They should not be judged because hey, people are scared of stuffed puppies and chicken eggs.  I'm not saying you'd say this but I do see people that say they should get over it, it's just a video game.  Yeah, I see people get all upset when their car gets damaged.  As long as its running who cares?  But I'm not going to judge them for getting super upset about damaging an antique car or something.

Even if I thought you had a good case, a class action lawsuit is a terrible idea. Should you actually succeed all you will do is make a lawyer rich, the fans will get a letter telling them they can claim it to get a return on their money, which the lawyer will take a cut of.

The only reason to do this is to try and hurt bioware, it wont get you the ending you want, it will simply hurt the company in some way financially, probably not enough to cause them to fail, but enough to set a bad precedence. If things are so bad you are truly considering doing this for more then just anger at wanting a logical ending, maybe its time to just leave bioware and EA behind and not touch their games any longer.

Edit: Fans ignoring their DLC and games will send a much better message then a lawsuit anyway.

if for some UNFORSEEN reason thsi makes it to court and the lawyer *wins* - you mentioned pretty much what would happen.

EA would then scale Bioware down drastically but still maintain a team to upkeep other titles, then force that team to work on other EA IP's, like uh.... C&C, LOTR, etc.

edit: as mentioned above, nto buying DLC sales will have a higher chance of hurting more - they have projected revenue that they have to make and appease the overlords.

I don't understand how people can claim "Bioware lied." They simply wrapped up the plot lines before the last level. Regardless of your feelings of the actual ending sequence, the plot, for all intents and purposes, is wrapped up before the last level and you do get to see the fruits of your actions- throughout the game, just not at the actual ending. ME3 as a whole is the ending to the trilogy and throughout the game your decisions do play a role. Just because people expected all of the decisions to affect the last 10 minutes of the game, rather than the last 10 hrs, doesn't mean that Bioware should be sued.

Then EA does the "noble" thing and takes it upon themselves to make new games with the IP's that are nothing like when the original company was in power. So everyone claiming Mass Effect sucks now will be crying how they miss Bioware when EA releases their idea of Mass Effect as a straight up FPS that is exactly like Halo.
