I don't understand how people can claim "Bioware lied." They simply wrapped up the plot lines before the last level. Regardless of your feelings of the actual ending sequence, the plot, for all intents and purposes, is wrapped up before the last level and you do get to see the fruits of your actions- throughout the game, just not at the actual ending. ME3 as a whole is the ending to the trilogy and throughout the game your decisions do play a role. Just because people expected all of the decisions to affect the last 10 minutes of the game, rather than the last 10 hrs, doesn't mean that Bioware should be sued.
Interviewer: [Regarding the numerous possible endings of Mass Effect 2] “Is that
same type of complexity built into the ending of Mass Effect 3?”
Hudson: “Yeah, and I’d say much more so, because we have the ability to
build the endings out in a way that we don’t have to worry about
eventually tying them back together somewhere. This story arc is
coming to an end with this game. That means the endings can be a lot
more different. At this point we’re taking into account so many
decisions that you’ve made as a player and reflecting a lot of that
stuff. It’s not even in any way like the traditional game endings,
where you can say how many endings there are or whether you got
ending A, B, or C.....The endings have a lot more sophistication and
variety in them.”

Well, technically, they used to advertise cigarettes as being "healthy", etc, so your logic concerning the tobacco company case isn't entirely sound. (But that's another discussion entirely.)Tazzmission wrote...

If you're talking about the US dont forget to add that guy who sued a tobacco company for giving him cancer after a life time of smoking it, despite the labels it's carried warning you about it in recent years ^^thunderhawk862002 wrote...

heres my reaction to a lawsuit
aw man i needed a good chuckle i think the court has real issues to worry abought instead of a video game
$210 million just in physical sales, not to mention dlc and ce editions. Yeah. It's totally tiny. It needs to be more like $500 million amirite?
i believe the courts are more worried about things like murderers id theft major stuff like that
i can honestly see an episode of judge judy taking this mass effect 3 case and i can see her telling the guy grow up and then kick him out and fine him for waisting the courts time
You do realize there are small claims courts right? Plus in a country where a burglar can successfully sue a homeowner for injuries when falling from a roof..... anything is possible
I also dont agree with people suing bioware, not only is it a waste of time it hardly gives those of us opposing the endings a positive image.
well i smoke and cancer is in my family so im not gona be a whiney person and just go whawhawha about it and run to the fed about it to demand i am owed something
and plus can you prove how a games ending damaged anyone?
its a laughable case and a waste of tax payer money
@OP: You don't know what you're talking about. Just let it go.

Even if I thought you had a good case, a class action lawsuit is a terrible idea. Should you actually succeed all you will do is make a lawyer rich, the fans will get a letter telling them they can claim it to get a return on their money, which the lawyer will take a cut of.
The only reason to do this is to try and hurt bioware, it wont get you the ending you want, it will simply hurt the company in some way financially, probably not enough to cause them to fail, but enough to set a bad precedence. If things are so bad you are truly considering doing this for more then just anger at wanting a logical ending, maybe its time to just leave bioware and EA behind and not touch their games any longer.
Edit: Fans ignoring their DLC and games will send a much better message then a lawsuit anyway.
Hey if it stops the video game industry from being coddled as artists I'm all for it. It's no longer this little niche industry that needs protected. It's time to stop giving more leeway than any other product out there. BioWare is already dead. I would just be a formality. If they can't make games on their own terms with forced deadlines and other EA control measures then are they even BioWare at all? If EA's timeline caused the BioWare team to rush and create a sloppy ending then how valid is their artistic vision anyway?

Give them some time, for god sakes. The game is only out for what? Two weeks? Give them the time to prove you otherwise and hopefully by a month or so there will be a ending DLC out.
Quiet you. People on the internet are demanding something.

I would say if they plan to do ending DLC we will have confirmation of it within a month, not the actuall download. If we dont hear anything by then, I doubt its likely to ever come to fruition.

Actually I'm pretty sure that has to actually be true at the time of advertisement, based on total ticket sales.

You wanna know something messed up? I saw a trailer that said that, but it was a Teaser. The film wasn't ever released yet.

What's that? We're co-creators with the devs? Hmmm I thought we were just whiny entitled brats. One less argument for the pro-ending crowd.
You stopped being co-creators when someone had the bright idea to replace the Grey Warden with a talking protag.

I dont know about that. You also see a lot of little phrases thrown around in trailers like "EXCITING!" and "FULL OF ACTION!". They are usually sprinkled in between the small quotes from movie reviewers, and are purely made up by the creators of the trailers.
still you dont see disappointed movie goers suing the creators of the movie because they felt lied to *rolls eyes*

I want it just as much as you want it. But I don't see filling a law suitcase after TWO WEEKS that the game is out without giving Bioware the opportunity to even tell us if they intened to drop out a ending DLC. If after a month or so there is even no reply from Bioware, hell, I'd even message this guy and remind him to file the suitcase myself. Just give them some time.

I know a lot of that is general fluff. However, being called the #1 movie in America is very important. The theory is if you get that spot then it will drive more ticket sales. So if you're a competitor studio you'd be pretty po'd if a fourth place movie was called that and your movie was really #1. There's a lot of crap movies that are number one for a period, but they have the sales to prove it.
Edit: I forgot that movie studios will then subdivide movies into categories. Like #1 comedy in America or #1 action movie in America, #1 Horror movie in America. That way they can still be #1 at something even if it isn't the actual top movie in America.

so they can stiff us of another 10-20$ for something like the dlc from ashes that was on the disk?

yeah I guess that makes sense. I guess there are so many movies that use that #1 movie in america line it seems as if most of the time its bull****, but next time I might just take the time to look at ticket sales lol
still, most of the stuff we are talking about is fluff. There really isnt any real basis for a lawsuit.

Well I'm not sure, if you take out interviews then there's only like 2 statements that you could consider it. I can't find if interviews are considered excluded from advertising laws or not. You are promoting a product but at the same time it's not an actual advertisement. I mean if I give an interview to a widely read health website and say my product cures cancer, but I follow all the rules in the actual labeling of the product, is it legal? I'm having a tough time finding anything definitive.
