Boycott Bioware Movement

Bethesda, and most gaming companies, like to sport the approach of "we just need to stay true to our vision, and the fans will like it, even if we'll have to shove it down their throat.". To their defense, there are plenty of examples of fans raging against some change that's announced before the game release, only to love it after they actually play the game. But bioware is the only company where the fans actually feel like part of the creative process, and that's somethIng to precious to dissmis...

I'm still not giving them money so I guess, uh, you're welcome unhappy guys that think things will ever go back to the way they were?

The signs were there in both DA2 and ME2. If you think the only thing wrong with ME3 is the very ending, you people are blind.
The entire DIRECTION the franchise has been going to has killed it for me. I have 0 desire to play ME3 now.

Here's a little story on Bethesda. Around the launch of skyrim I went to their forums and made a thread complaining about them keeping the same lame first person melee combat system for a decade, and that they should consider changing to something more comfortable. The thread had plenty of responses, wether from people agreeing with me the ES games are great games but with a crappy combat, to people justifying that the crappy combat system is a testament to the devs investing their resources in the role playing field and not something as shallow as combat, all the way to people saying that they love the system and that it wouldn't be ES without it. Overall a healthy, and polite, disscussion about a feature of the game that troubled some of the fan base. Bethesda response was swift and sure. The mods called it a hate thread and locked it down. When I later made a thread suggesting to incorporate a feature similar to the v.a.t.s. from fallout 3, to make the combat more managable for those that found it uncomfortable, they threatend to ban me... I didn't use any curses or insults, simply wished to disscuss something that bothered me I the game.

Bioware is also the only company that never admits mistakes and constantly insults it's fan base with outright lies and dismissing complains as nerdrage.
Part of the creative process? Yeah they listen, but they are completely arrogant about it. Just seeing how many things are now in ME3 that people have discussed where Bioware dismissed everything as "It doesn't fit in the franchsie, it doesn't work with our art" BLA BLA BLA.
It doesn't feel like being part of the process but like being used and then spit in the face.

What do you want them to say OP? "We know a lot of people didn't like the endings we made, but we did.So we're not changing them."
That would be perfect.
-Id actually prefer that. Then the people who disagree with the "artistic" direction can move on, and the people who loved it can stay and buy the MP dlc and the Sims skins.

This is what the people defending Bioware sounds like. It seems like its always the same five people that go into every thread about changing the endings and flamebait/troll.

If people listen to you on something that is actually completely subjective...well I guess it's understandable if they have very similar tastes.Farbautisonn wrote...

Maybe BioWare loses some customers over this, but also gets new ones because of new more action-oriented direction they have taken. I suggested this game to my COD friends and most of them loved it (mostly multiplayer to be honest). Too much talking for them in the singleplayer for them lol.

As one movement dies, another rises, and soon will be put down. Your "boycott" won't do a thing.

So a company that has actually changed the ending to a game due to complaints is somehow worse than a company that has said nothing? And mods are not employees.Solmanian wrote...

edit: Oh and if you think bioware cares about your input during a games development you were obviously not here for DA2. Gaider flat out said "dont like it dont buy it".

-Dont do implied ad hominems. Youre not good at it. You are as subtle as a sledgehammer.
Any kind of review is subjective. It is after all a personal opinion on a game. If we trust said person, we can then choose to affix his opinion with a value. Some will value your opinion I am sure. Others will value mine. Your crowd is by admission the "action" and "COD" crowd. Mine... is different.
As for the "action oriented" and "COD friends". Well. I hope you are successfull in getting them to buy Bioware products. I sincerely do. I will be doing the opposite. Ill remind everyone who remember BG1 & 2 plus KotOR and DA:O, that Bioware is no longer that company. Ill remind them that their voices are not heard and thusly their business no longer wanted. You see I remember gaming studios that also started appeal to a "wider audience" and then lost their way. They are here no longer.

Accoring to the attitude they put those days and their unfinished production, I won't trust them anymore no matter what they do, so disappointing.

I find the idea of boycotting ridiculous. Just look at the thousands of people boycotting L4D2 and MW2. They were ALL playing the game on release date.
Not all.

Maybe they just hid in some Edmonton nuclear bunker built to protect canadiens from evil russians and wait while this ****storm calms a bit.
