..live in any playthrough.

The encounter was like any other bandit attack. Never tried asking any other bandit to join me after beating him half to death, why would i want this one to? I think the whole encounter with Zevran is handled pretty badly.

I don't know. I immediately had the feeling they tried to invoke Antonio Banderas movies into my mind (i.e. Shrek 2 and The Mask of Zorro).

Somehow it fits the suave, sexy Spanish rogue to ask for mercy (more or less). Why wouldn't he try? That you don't grant him the mercy is pretty understandable too.

During my first playthrough there was no option to let that scumbag live. My character loathed his suggestion about being there to "warm my bed". My second character on the other hand found the offer a good one. He's hot, after all.

I killed him once on sight. You know, the bastard character :

Zevran killed on sight.

Wynne killed on sight.

Sten left free after intimidating the revered mother. Was happy that he slaughtered innocents.

Well, in the end, I had... 6 or 5 party members in Denerim. Good stuff. Am currently romancing him and am finding his sexist ways extremely annoying. Apart from the dialogue when he says he's a public danger. That was funny.

I would've liked a scenario where you could really cement the fact that he's a slave to you. But apart from the initial contact where you say "You serve me now" or something to that effect, it's never really acknowledged again.

Having an assassin servant would definately be good.

I would have talked to the other bandits if only I could. Sent the Loghain-guys away and let the bandits run to the hills. He did pay me a tithe after all.

And I really needed an optimist in my crew to balance Shale.

Edit: And Inigo Montoya compelled me to do it.

Well, he says he's not opposed to the idea of rope and chains...

There are several chances to re-affirm his oath in dialogue.

I felt the same way. How could I let someone join me who was trying to kill me? Sure he says he'll be loyal and wont try to kill me again... what would you say when your half dead having a sword on your throat?

The default reason is why you also take say, Morrigan or Leliana along. Because help is offered (or forced in Morrigan's case), and your situation is desperate enough that you can't afford to turn away any help. As a Grey Warden in the midst of a Blight, you need every attainable edge; and Zevran is worth more to you alive than dead. He may present a risk, but so do others depending on your actions.

Considering we're offered the option to bring along a child murdering, sexist ethnocentric, a witch of dubious loyalty that was forced into helping out, a nun that initially seems delusional, and a slab of rock of suspect morality; I'd say Zevran is in good company. There are few potential party members in Dragon Age that do not seem initially untrustworthy or outright insane except for Dog, Wynne and maybe Oghren. I don't count Alistair since you're stuck with him.

Problem with Zevran is his oath is meaningless.

I got him to swear loyalty to me in my first play through but because I then didnt work on raising his influence, he joined the other crow in a heart beat and attacked me later in game.

Loyalty Oath didnt mean a damn thing sadly.

I had no problem with him joining my group but if you question him and make him swear to be loyal, he should be IMO.

Im working on his influence this play through but have to keep telling him im not interested in him, im not gay. ONCE should be enough. Really there should be a option that the 2nd time he hits on you after you tell him your not interested, THEN you should be allowed to kill him on the spot.

Aw, come on, Skellimancer. Look at him... in his wee little pool of blood. You know, how many elves can survive a Cone of Cold? Honestly? - Let's keep him

loghain dies.

wynne opposed me.. she dies.

Yes, who wouldn't trust a drunkard of an alcoholic dwarf any day, swinging a blade/axe his own size, as he hiccups laughingly spinning around on the battlefield. I'd say Oghren fits right in there with the rest of them. Love that little beverage loving huggiebear.

Hence why I wrote maybe. ;)

I was borderline there but decided... eh, why not lump him in with the "nicer" folk. It's Oghren, darn it!

Hey, you forget to be arrogant. Sending them to him to taunt him is a classic move.

And every character within your party could be on Jerry Springer, spar dog maybe.

I've kept Zevran in both my games so far. My rogue thought he made the camp prettier (although she ultimately told him to stop flirting after things got serious with Alistair) and my mage found him very useful in battle. (And also in bed. His romance turned out to be surprisingly sweet, in a psychopathic kind of way.)

As for the fact that he may still be out to kill you - half the people in Ferelden and the entire darkspawn horde are out to kill you. While I can certainly see why a pragmatic character would just slit his throat, I don't think that your PC has to be an idiot to keep him around. He didn't manage to kill you on his first try with a dozen assistants, what are the chances he'll manage it on his own when surrounded by your allies? Besides, if the Warden is concerned about the danger he presents, I'm sure Zevran would cheerfully concent to being tied up ...

My first time through, as a human noble, I wanted information since this was different from the other encounters on the road. After talking to him, I decided that I would let Zevran live and join me. Alistair wasn't happy, but I was beginning to stop listening to some of his opinions because he began fighting me on a lot of things. I needed skilled warriors and, as a noble, I figured my character was brought up to talk people into my causes. It worked and, though I found Zevran staring at me disturbingly after some influence gains, it all worked out and I kept him on with the promise of money.

My second time, I am playing a dwarven noble and he is jaded by his experiences in Orzammar and is a seeker of power. He killed Zevran because he wasn't interested in making nice with an enemy and didn't care who he was, since he wasn't strong enough to break a sweat on my dwarf. This seems to be the time that I kill most of my party members though...lost Shale to the anvil and I think I lose Alistair when I pick up Loghain. Morrigan is having the time of her life though...

I had no problem with Zevran joining me up to the second he started getting way to flirty for my taste (male playthrough). I cut him loose, and was hoping he'd ambush me again, I'd slit his troath in a heartbeat on my next playthrough, be ready to meet your maker Zevran.

You should be able to kill Leliana for flirting with you too.

I always wake Zevran up and kill him, it's not fun to cut someone's throat while they sleep.
