That's the mistake most fans make: they believe the love and dedication that they give to the companies who produce the things they enjoy are shared. Sadly, it's all a one-way, unrequited romance. Corporations don't care about fans, they care about their stockholders. If it gets their stockholders more profit, then they consider it a job well done. They care about fans the same way wolves care about deer; sure, they're nice to have around as they keep them well fed, but that's all deer are to them: food. Fans are food to corporate entities like EA and Bioware.

Without hope or humanity, trust and support we are nothing more than what you described.

It is better to have trusted and lost everything in the maw of defeat, than to have lived in solitute and detachment.

True, but if you trust wolves blindly, and ignore their wolfish nature, then you have no one but yourself to blame when the wolf bites you.

Corporate entities are what they are. One shouldn't be surprised when they pull such shenannigans.

But what happends when you expect a faithful companion of five years to suddenly bite you?

How could you have known?

The defining characteristics of organic life is that we think for ourselves, make our own choices. You take that away, and we might as well be machines, just like you.

I got this a fortnight before ME3 came out in the UK. Fair enough, it stands for a lot more than a simple videogame for me, but still. I'm glad I'm pissed off about the ending rather than depressed or looking at this everyday would make me want to throw myself into a shark tank.

And your collection is fantastic!

I think it already has, I pretty much get the "Phantom menace wasn't that bad" reaction every time I see a thread titled "I LOVED the ending!" and they immediately point out, 'You guys just want a happy ending!'

Wow, great collection!
We should start a thread "Show me your love" with photos of our bioware collection.
Must be epic.

Impressive collection. I don't think we should write BioWare off just yet. They have stated earlier that they wanted more people to complete the game before doing anything. My hope is that they meant it sincerely and at PAX they will either release a statement or even announce a DLC/update.
Fingers crossed.

Nice collection..... really like the artwork stuff.....

Just to let you know you not alone in the way you feel... I'm also pretty disappointed with BW at the moment, they should look to new boys CD Projekt, who seem to do everything right by their fans. Plus make awesome games!!!!!

IMO it seems Bioware don't have a clue at the moment in terms of who their audience is or what their games should be.

I too have been a Fan since Mass Effect was announced.  I followed it from the moment it was announced through everything.  It is my favorite universe across all media.  I own ALL the Collector's Editions (including the 1st) of the games and the Guides (Collector's Editions for 2 and 3).  All the Books and Comics.  I own a good bit of the Shirts and Swag as well.  Hell I have planned Paragon/Renegade Tattoos.  I too am a student of Science Fiction and was LONG before Mass Effect came about.  Mass Effect however was what inspired me to move into Game Media as far as truly engrossing and interactive story telling.

However I could not disagree with you, or any of the other people complaining about the endig any more fervently.  I really don't mean to offend any of you, or start andy flame war.  But I truly loved my ending.  I can see perfectly well why the other choices are present as well (atleast as much as any of the choices are).  Hopefully BioWare doesn't change it.  No matter how you look at it, people are going to be upset.

I'm very sorry you feel the way you do, and I can only imagine how frustrated you must be.  I can only hope that maybe upon further reflection you can see the value in the direction they took.  I do find it interesting how so many people can come to complete polar opposite sides of the spectrum.  People either truly love and agree with the direction or feel like they've been completely let down, there is no one sitting in the middle.  It would seem atleast among my friends and colleagues and the media outlets I subscribe to remain positive about the direction of Mass Effect.  That may be why I'm so shocked to find  out the negative outcry from other fans.

I wish you all the best.

I know how you feel. I have the art book, one of the comics, the novels, and the 2 Normandy miniatures from darkhorse comics all setting out.

We're upset by the sheer amout of plot holes, callbacks, lies, false statements and PR spin. If this is what they intended and TOLD US it would be before launch fine. But they intentionally lied and conived their way into our wallets.

Shameful.

Don't feel bad for getting this... I've never gotten a tattoo because I never liked anything enough to permanently put it on myself, but I actually had been considering something like this because Mass Effect means/meant THAT much to me.

This franchise deserves so much better than this ending. That's why I'm so broken up about how it all went down. I genuinely believe Mass Effect could have been this generation's Star Wars... and I mean the original trilogy, before the prequels soiled it all. Those halcyon days in the 90s when people spoke of Star Wars with literally the same reverence as some people talk about religion.

Agh, BioWare, why? WHY

I again... sadly disagree.  But that's the beauty of the thing, we are both entitled to our opinions.  However no matter how upset you are about the ending, I can not in anyway see how this can be misconstrued in anyway as "lies, false statements and PR spin" or "lied and conived their way into our wallets."

I mean come on!  This again falls under pure opinion.  You're basically pissed off because they have a differant opinion then you.  I mean look at it this way, they represented it the way they felt about it.  And how could they not feel that way?  They spent all that time and energy in creating it (weither it's good or bad).

If I were to say make a movie such as say Star Wars and I personally truely believed in the story I was telling, then I would obviously sell it the way I saw it.  But once it was released and you completely disagreed with the fact that it was a completely epic sci-fi saga, you could basically make the same arguments.  And I find that to be a completely ridiculous conclusion, all endings aside.

(For the record I am not a Star Wars fan and believe it to be one of the weakest works of Science Fiction ever created, which is why I used it as a reference)

We will agree, to disagree on many a thing.

But I respect your opinion and manner.
