I love the Eviscerator... it's really balanced, accurate and can blow heads off from about ten paces
Wow... I sound like a psychopath. I have to go take a shower...

Although I could bombard you with each SG has it's strengths, bla bla bla, I find that the best one, personally is the geth plasma shotgun. It does a great deal of damage, and can do it over a long distance compared to regular SG's. If you charge it up then cloak releasing the shot doesnt end cloak, so you could charge, cloak, energy drain, release shot and fire another shot under cloak, potentially one shotting a geth pyro on gold
TL:DR Geth shotgun Roflstomps everything.

It depends on what you use it for.
I played a Vanguard in single player, which means a lot of close combat. Which means you need a shotgun that can spray much. The M-300 Claymore is an (imo) unwise choice, because if you charge in to more then 1 enemy, you'll need a reload of 2-3 seconds PER shot.
So I used the Eviscerator and Graal. The Eviscerator has many shots so you're quite save fighting a group of enemies.
And the Graal is the god of guns. It's a combination of the Claymore and Eviscerator that can be used at medium to long range as well.
At least, that's how I think about it. But it depends heavily on playstyle. I think the Deciple and Geth Plasma Shotgun are quite good as well and they look quite awesome as well. The Geth Shotgun can be used from some range as well.

Depends on the class I am playing.
On my Vanguard I am fond of the Disciple, even though it lacks punch
My Krogan Sentinel rocks with the Geth Shotgun.
My human Soldier carries a Katana as secondary weapon.
Though I admit I haven't unlocked the Graal, Wraith, Crusader or Raider.

I didn't find the graal all that good, to be honest. I prefer a visual representation of where my shot is going.

Depends on what you're looking to do. The best close range is probably the Katana (or the Claymore, if that's more your style) but the best in general will be the ones that give the best utility.
The Graal Spike thrower has amazing range and accuracy if you can lead properly (or are hitting still targets) with huge damage potential from charging. It's effective at close range (hipfire) and medium range (aimed firing).
Eviscerator has deceptively amazing range, since it has the same damage drop-off ranges as an AR. Toss a smart choke on for an incredibly tight spread and you'll be popping heads off at medium range with ease. It's precise enough to oneshot guardians through the gap in their shield at everything but long range.
Wraith is the same thing but with less shots and more damage, comes down to personal preference.
I'd say the Graal is the best shotgun if you're using it as a primary weapon and can lead well, Eviscerator is the best secondary shotgun, and the Katana is the best dedicated close range shotgun.

Geth Plasma Shotgun and Wraith seem to be the two best by a longshot.

The problem with the Crusader is the same problem that the Saber has: It's basically just a Carnifex/Paladin with a ton more weight. The extra damage is negligible because they're all onshot headshots, twoshot bodyshots. The only edge it has is accuracy and honestly I don't think that's worth the huge weight penalty.
The Geth Plasma shotgun falls into a similar pitfall. It fills the exact same role as the Graal but with worse damage and accuracy. All you get in return are piercing projectiles, which you can mod for anyway if you so desire.

Disciple X of course. Asari Commandos know why they wanted it. Light, accurate and deadly if you aim for the head.

The graal is good only if you dont have any lag at all, if you are even little laggy, youll miss too much shots to be worth it, same thing with the geth plasma shotgun :\\

Wraith for all-around.
Disciple for the low-weight.

Geth Plasma Shotgun is by far my favourite. It's all I need on my salarian infiltrator - effective from close to long range. Just dont start saying it's overpowered - I dont want it nerfed.

I dont have the Geth plasma shotgun but i have the graal and i love it. Really accurate from middle range, charged up can do some serious dmg. Put a smart choke and the spread will be miniscule.

1.5 to .9 (Scimitar weight).
I just unlocked the Graal after posting in this thread. Tried it out. It is pretty much a GPS with a smaller clip and better accuracy? Both are fishy when you're not the host, but not enough to make them worse than other shotguns.

I love the Graal, but from time to time the spikes just don't seem to connect when you're lagging a bit.

Yeh the lag can be tough on the graal, but if the host is decent and not half a world away, then your good to go.
Personally i only play with friends or i host the public lobby so i never experience much lag.
To sum up the best shotgun, i would say the shotguns that can charge the shot are the best since you can do much more dmg per shot on the big targets.

That's about right. The Graal shoots 'bladed' flechettes so it takes some time to actually impact the target. The MP states that it also causes DOT (bleeding) but I wonder if that's an actual in-game mechanice. If you put a smart chocke on the Graal, you can basicalle use it at long range too. I used one with increased ammo and a smart choke..it rules in single player.
I just unlocked it for multiplayer, is it any good there?
