From the strategy guides and build suggestions I've looked at, the Dalish Elf should start with the Pinning Shot talent, which I'd intended using as the start point for an archery based warrior, however on the PS3 version it gives Dual-Weapon Sweep instead.

Is this a recognized "feature" of the PS3 version, or a bug?

I know there is also an issue with the Blood Dragon Armour in the PS3, are there any other known differences between the PC (on which I guess most strategies are developed) and Console versions?

is the guide you looking at for the Dalish for a Warrior or Rogue? i know both elf warrior builds start with Dual Weapon Sweep.

Sorry - Dalish Elf warrior is what I meant.

I've just checked on a friend's PC copy and starting a Dalish Elf Warrior definitely gives Pinning Shot and the City Elf gets Dual Weapon Sweep.

On the PS3, both Elf warrior varieties get Dual Weapon Sweep!

Definitely a bug!

I've now raised an issue over at the customer support site to see if they have any comment!

I am pretty sure the guide states that both elf warriors start with dual sweep.

To start with pinning shot you have to do a rogue.

As I said, I've checked on the PC version - the Dalish Elf Warrior gets pinning shot, whereas on the PS3 they get Dual Weapon Sweep.

Rogues always start with Dirty Fighting on both versions.

From the warrior talents section of the guide:

"You start with one point in different talents, depending on what race you choose. The Dwarf Noble and Human Noble begin with Shield Bash (ideal for tanks). The Dwarf Commoner and City Elf start with Dual-Weapon Sweep (useful in many melee situations, and a great start if you want to wield two weapons). The Dalish Elf begins with Pinning Shot (essential for a ranged warrior going into the Archery talents)."

So i guess they switched it in the consoles and did not notify the publisher of the guide.

The PS3 manual also states that warriors get either Shield Bash, Dual-Weapon Sweep or Pinning Shot, but without any clarification of what affects it, so I suspect, given as there is no way I have found of creating a warrior with Pinning-Shot as the starting talent it is an unintentional change.

I see no reason why they would intentionally nerf the ability to create an Archery based warrior

would rather have had an extra point, for warriors instead of an assigned point to be honest, as warrior get either dual sweep or one of the sword and shield, some may want to make a 2h, and well they start a place behind instead.

Hmph, got a really useful response from the EA support team ....

Yah, I already tried that!

Most likely this was an oversight as the PS3 and PC product shipped different versions. That tends to be a problem with cross console games. Once the final version of a game is completed, double checked for bugs, and shipped . . . they may have found the bug but not been able to fix it in time. I'd keep your eyes pealed for a fix, or . . . take the hit and be a dual wield warrior in your origin story until you level up and can go to pew pew mode.

Or, you can just go ahead and be an archer. It's just one talent, you have 24 more points to put in as many different talents as you please.

If you look at this like that it would be not possible to make 2 handed as no character has any 2handed skill on start. I just didn't care about 1 point and still went 2 handed. It's not such a big deal. If it was about pvp then yeah it would matter but with a single player game I don't find it really painful.

why even drop a point in anything at the start lol suck having duel weapon sweep if your going 2 handed.. waste of a talent point if you ask me =(
