Do you think the ending, left as is, will deprive ME3 of a realistic chance at Game of the Year? Don’t want to start a flame war between the 2 “factions”, but I feel the current ending undermines a lot of the players actions and choices  throughout the series. Although it’s poignant and emotional, it lacks the variety that defines the rest of the series. The result is that I cant imagine myself voting for it as my Game of the Year. I wonder what BSN thinks of this?
Do you think ME3 cans till take GOTY?

I don't think it will. GOTY is decided by the same magazines and publishers that gave the game a universally godlike rating

Considering it's almost unanimous 'must-play' status in gaming publications, it's a shoe-in

It really depends what those other big titles of the year end up like.

Depends, as it stands now...unlikely. If they do something regarding the ending that too would make it unlikely given that most media publications are not in favor of the ending being changed. Too much controversy surrounding the game atm, ask this question in 6 months.

If GOTY is decided by the same organizations that gave ME3 perfect reviews, there is a good chance it will get it. If anything else is a factor, then no.

If we get the "fixed" end as free DLC then yes, it is.

Paid the collector's edition $70 in my country, I did my job. I bought the game. Now the ball is in EA/Bioware's camp. Give us the end we paid for!

It's far away to be GOTY imo.

I was disappointed by the ending, I'm still hoping Bioware will do something about it, but even as the game is today, its extremely likely to be my GOTY. It look me around 27 hours to finish, and literally the only part I didn't like was the last 15 minutes. So I got a lot of high quality entertainment from it.

I'm trying to think what other games I'm looking forward to this year. I haven't played Kingdoms of Amalur yet but I plan to soon. Max Payne 3. Far Cry 3. Tomb Raider. Assassins Creed 3. Hitman. Bioshock Infinate.

Most of those contenders will be less than 20 hours long, I doubt any of them will be as emotional as ME3, and all of them will have their own flaws. There has never been, and never will be, a perfect game. The ME3 ending might make replaying the game difficult for some people, but most of the contenders will be designed to be exactly the same on a 2nd play.

So yeah, ME3 has pretty much already won my GOTY award unless something very surprising happens.

I could cheat and vote for Witcher 2, but to be fair, the PC version was #2 on my 2011 GOTY list.

Why wouldn't it get GOTY? it got even better reviews than ME2 did, the game is awesome in every way, the multiplayer was very well made, and it's fun too so, why wouldn't it be a great candidate for GOTY? becuase of the ending? LMAO! you people are so ridden in this game's fictional universe that you'll be even selling your game because of a few holes in a 5 minute cutscene, lol.

Hopefully it will not. Of course it still should get a first prize - in a "disappointment of the year" category.

Could be a GOTY if they fix the ending, but Diablo III is also being released this year. Also a shoe in.

Even if it had a fixed ending I dont think it deserves it. Its good, but not GotY. but then that is an utterly meaningless accolade anyhow

Even if the endings had been good Bioshock Infinite and AC3 would give it a run for it money. My moneys on Bioshock Infinite.

I was ready to choose ME3 as game of the year, until I finished the game. I've seen around all kind of complaints and theories, especially the "Indoctrination" one. I personally just wanted a Mass Effect 3 as good as ME2, nothing more.

There's tough competition from the new Bioshock and Prey games, even if the endings were great, I don't think it's GOTY worthy.

So far I'm really enjoying ME3 but I've yet to reach this supposedly terrible ending. I have set my expectations low.

GOTY should be a good game i think. ME3 had some nice moments, but mostly made no sense.

The ending is kinda paramount here. It was supposed to be the crowning moment of a powerful trilogy, wrapping up 5 years and 120+ hours of story, and ended up crashing and burning entirely.

Yeah, that's kinda important. Especially when it affects replayability of not only the game but the other two titles for many (hard to get into the story again when you know at the end none of it matters whether you play the bare minimum 10 hours of ME3 to beat it or 130 hours over 3 games +DLC, 99% of teh ending is the same).

Additionally, it's hard to nominate a game for GOTY when half it's ending is a copy-paste reskin of the ending to a 12 year old game.

All that said, "GOTY" titles are bestowed by big gaming websites, sites that have already shown they don't accurately review the games. Is anyone going to take such a title seriously from say, IGN, who had huge access to the game during development for articles and an actual *employee* in the game as a character?

Even if the ending is fixed, Valve's Dota 2 and CS:GO are a serious threat(tho the latter is a bit smaller). However, if HL3 or GTA V come out by the end of the year, then the answer is, unfortunately, obvious.

If the current ending is actually legit and is left as is, I hope so. Incompetence shouldn't be rewarded.
