HI,

I just left the Citidal and then went off to get Javik using (which I got), but when I tried to select Javik on the Priority: Palaven mission, he was greyed out.

Is this because there was no DLC dialog for this character for this mission? or is this another bug with ME3?
Thanks in advance.

He will be after that mission. If you do it before that mission then talk to him, he will say he needs time to rest. After that mission, you talk to him again and he will say he's ready for action.

Brilliant. Thanks for the reply. I was very curious as to why he was greyed out.

My latest playthrough I did that mission first and picked up on him saying the rest part. Then I did Palaven and talked to him again. So he was ready after that mission. Technically, I think because BW didn't have Javik VO work for that mission is probably why. It's weird because he references the Turians still even though at the point of the mention, he hadn't seen one in this cycle yet.

Best for not bringing in new plot holes is to do Javik after Palaven IMO. Plus it's not like you lose any usage time out of him since he is unavailable for Palaven. Plus you can bring Garrus to Eden Prime for some banter with Liara. lol

All (or at least most) of the current races existed during the time of the Protheans.  There were just no where near their current point on the evolutionary scale (i.e. the Salarians were "eating flies", the Asari were illiterate, Humans were still cavemen, etc).

But he references the Turians being one of the leaders without meeting them. How did he know how far they advanced or even if they were still around?

After Palaven, Garrus and the Primark are on the ship so it could be explained even if you didn't have Garrus on the mission.

It can be assumed that he was told about the current cycle either on the return trip to the Normandy or at sometime prior to the conversation with him post-mission

By the armed guards that wouldn't even let Liara get close to him? Yeah, right. And we can assume things all day but doesn't make it so.

Pretty sure the reason you can't take him is that all the dialog on Palaven is tightly scripted, and designed around you having James and Liara, and then James and Garrus.
