I was wondering if anyone is familiar with Gamestop's policy on trade ins. I'd like to exchange my PS3 copy for a PC copy, but I don't want to lose my bonus items from pre-order. I'm pretty sure you can't trade an opened game for anything other than the same item, but I'm not sure Gamestop will cover the "Freeze/Black-screen" issue.
I just called them and I have to call back later when a manager is on duty, odd a manager wouldn't be there. Anyways, the response I got was even though it's been under 30 days and the PS3 copies are indeed broken, I most likely won't be able to trade it in for a PC version of the game. If I manage to pull it off, very likely I'm losing my bonus items from pre-order.
What a mess. Need to do business with Amazon.com from now on.
Anyone familiar with Gamestop policy?

Well your plan regretfully will not work
best case scenario you trade it in to get a slight disscount and purchase the pc version. You will however lose your items.

I was afraid of that. The guy I spoke with offered that too. Probably a waste of time calling back later to get the manager to agree. Thanks for the response. Just have to wait on the patch.

gamestops policy on returns is once its open you can only return it for an exact copy of the game you purchased, as long as its defective. You can not exchange it for something else if it is already open. This is also the reason games with multiplayer are having codes for the online part of it. Once that codes used no one else can use it, so someone buying a used copy of the game has to purchase a seperate online pass code.

How old and what type is your PS3? Also, I doubt your luck with Amazon would be much better as far as the preorder stuff goes would it?

I'm in the same boat OP. You can't return and even if you could another copy will not fix freezing and fps issues. People have been complaining of fps and freezing since release and there has been no response.

My PS3 is the fat version, almost 2 years old. Only games I've had a problem with have been Elder Scrolls: Skyrim (fixed now after 3 months of waiting for patch) and now ME3. I got through one playthrough on ME3 by avoiding the Citadel as much as possible, but now everytime I go to the Citadel at all I get blackscreen/freeze.
Someone has posted in the story spoilers section they had a CE and opened it, which they got from Amazon, and they got a full refund. I guess a lot of customers are returning their ME3 copies. I'm assuming PS3 copies because I don't think "I didn't like the ending" qualifies for a return reason.

Less than 20% of me3 copies sold were ps3 copies. With all the issues.. Go figure.
