Now after this, anyone still criticizing BioWare for doing PR stunts and so on need to get a ****ing life. When the president responds, you've got the company's ear. Most importantly we need to wait until April before castin anymore judgement on how well they have listened to us. So seriously, I petition any real BIoware fan to mark the ****s that keep up negativity, because they are wolves in Sheeps clothing an deserve to be outcast and labeled as such.

I'm not sure about you guys but this is how I'm viewing this.

Sadly, it seems thats the course that the game industry is taking. Sigh....

April 2012:

BW releases final alternative ending DLC for only $ 29,99. Every single ****** that have complained about the ending will buy it and claim BW as the best company ever.

Sad, but true. They will be rich with this situation.

While we hold the line. They will continue to try to hold the bottom line. Only way to really hit them is to boycott any cost DLC. You can see they use Artist Integrity as a defense. Words will not hurt them. Profit loss will. Sadly I think that is the only language most game companies speak these days.

So, why everyone keep buying it? It's our fault, not game industry fault.

He's talking as though people who didn't like the ending simply don't understand it.  "We'll provide more clarity" is like a 5 year old telling a joke and then explaining why you should laugh.  We aren't having promblems understanding the ending.  We just don't like it because it is of such low quality compared to the rest of the franchise, because it flushes away in one swirl all of the choices and achievements we made through the course of 3 games.

The problem is not "lack of clarity" in regards to the ending.

The problem is it's lack of quality.

This.  One thousand times, THIS!

I understand the ending (singular) included on the disc; as much as something with that amount of logical inconsistencies, uncharacteristic behaviors, Deus Ex Machina and Space Magic handwaving can be understood.

There is no need for further clarification.  The ending is perfectly clear.

Clearly bad.  Clearly unacceptable.  Clearly a placeholder for the real endings that based upon the other 99% of the game I KNOW Bioware can produce.

This is your chance for a do-over Bioware, please don't waste it hiding behind "artistic integrity."

I'm sure this is more than upsetting for Bioware to be dealing with, but speaking to its own customers as if they simply don't understand what they have is beyond rude. Artistic vision does not mean the ending has to be pporly written and executed

There is a big reason why "artistic" movies are often flops at the box office. A majority of people are not looking for that. It is especially important when the ending goes against so many of the themes established both in the series as a whole, and the game itself

Bongo more like.

Me3 was complete upon launch, dlc expand the experience.  Fan hatred of the ending may result in a revised ending but the intention was that the product was finished as it stands.

Actually Mass Effect 2 canon ending is The Arrival, so the arguement falls flat.

To me it sounds like all they're going to do is add on "closure" to the terrible current endings. If that's the case, count me out.

That's not "canon ending" those are events after the game.

Mass Effect 2 had a definitive ending point. The destruction of the base, escaping with your team or Shepard dying.

What in the world is a "game content initiative?" Are they talking patches, dlc? Also this doesn't really fill me with hope. Sure we'll see something in April, and maybe we'll get closure, but it seems their standing by their poorly written "artistic" ending that makes no sense.

I think those are more the like Project: Goliath or something. The Multiplayer stuff.

This whole post reads as very humbling but I'm not entirely convinced. We are still being responded to as both the minority and angry kids playing with their toys. I am really ready to see something that stops considering us in a dismissive fashion, which is exactly what this feels like (once again). I know this sounds really whiny, but seriously, stop noting us as a minority and don't tell us we're being angry and destructive when this is content that you pushed forward. As always, my question still remains, "What the heck design decisions led to these endings?"

They are making steps forward, which in my mind looks promising.

Also programming, doing the Voice over, mixing, tuning, and rewriting, takes time, so, who knows possibly when they do make the announcement the possible "fix" might follow shortly.

I kinda think this apology is mostly to get the core fan based settled so they'll be able to sell DLC to them to expand the multi-player. With people returning their games to amazon and origin maybe their projections for profits from it are becoming a lot smaller.

Honestly, I think that's EXACTLY what happened. The news only broke about 24 hours ago that many retailers were accepting returns. Isn't it interesting that it's NOW we hear from one of the "big cahunas" at Bioware? They're silent  until people start returning the game; then all of the sudden it's important enough to make an official announcement about. I want desperately to take this as a beacon of hope, but the reasonable person inside of me sees it as a business ploy.

Sad.

I think i might be stating the obvious here but i really believe EA & Bioware were expecting this to be a continual strong earner until another Mass Effect Triology begins. However it's now starting to appear that their core fans (the ones most likely to get addicted to the multi-player) are returning their games and not playing online, which most likely scares them because they are losing a big market for continual releases of multi-player DLC.

What honestly scares me is that I can forsee EA calling ME3 a loss and just dumping it, which will happen I think if this drags out for a few more months. If Bioware has any hope of really salvaging the situation, they need to start making meaninful reparations soon. Obviously developing DLC and/or an alternate ending will take time, but in the meantime they need to stop hiding behind
PR  smoke and mirrors. If they will respond in a meaningful way and truly make this right, then they will gain the largest most loyal consumer/fanbase the gaming industry has ever seen, and Mass Effect IP will be profitable for years. But if they keep blowing it, the whole ME universe will implode.

Honestly this whole situation just makes me conflicted to no end. On the one hand i would really like to boycott any multi-player DLC they put out there, but on the other hand i don't want to actually help in screwing up future prospects for continued expansion of the mass effect universe. I've really enjoyed the games / books / comics so for the love of god i hope when April does come they annoucne that they are working on a expanded ending. Actual conformation would be enough for me to finally make my pre-order for the Invasion comic and maybe even get me into the multi-player.

Yeah, especially when he says nothing at all and goes on to defend the terrible ending as being true art. I guess he managed to point out how Critics are proof the ending must be good.

I agree in the steps, they are babysteps, but steps nonetheless.

And I certainly do hope so! An official statement saying: "Yes, we're doing it."
Is better than this, if I may a tad insulting, adress.

As for people talking about boycotting DLCs and such... There won't be much need honestly, I don't see many unhappy fans buying pre-ending DLC anytime soon. No rally needed really.

The current end of the game is artistically indefensible. It's just straight up bad storytelling. It doesn't make sense. It's not in the spirit of the rest of the trilogy. It answers almost nothing. It is unbefitting of the amazing work that preceded it.

I'm sure it's painful for the developers of such an amazing series of games but they need to accept that the current ending cannot stand. If they do they can then move forward and write the epic ending we all know they can produce.

I'm sorry but most of you are completely unfair in your thinking and It is both rediculous and sad. I'm not afraid to stand for what I believe in and I am disappointed in humanity (at the humanity on the BSN). What we got was a great honest and opeEn statement from Ray regarding THEIR project and art. They have heard and are continuing to hear us. If I was bioWare after readin this thread, I would send a personal "f*** you" letter to the lot of you. No offense, but that is really sad the limited point of view the most of you have

While that may happen with some, others will have permanently left Bioware even if they do fix the ending. Others will buy the DLC but be wary of Bioware products in the future. The situation will average out in a way that I think ME3's ending will end up hurting in the long run, even if short-term profits get a boost from a DLC.
