I just want to say that:

Image IPB

Is not art

As to the rest of his post, I do appreciate that he responds, but it seems very unlikely you can handwave or "explain" the massive amount of plotholes of the ending. If they can sit down, break that down, and have it make sense, I will be more then content.

Joker running (had to have done prior to the explosion), squadmates picked up by the Normandy with Harbinger right there. And the logic of the starchild. They have their work cut out for them.

I was severely disappointed in the ending. I hated the Star Child Reaper King.

But, I believe in Bioware.

That's what I feared. They're gonna 'explain' why Joker was fleeing in the middle of the battle and why Ventkid's nonsense make sense. But they won't change or add a thing.

This.

I hope that there not goign down that road.

It would have to be one hell of a explenation then to get me interested into the series again
and restore the love and makes me want to replay the game / series and leave me druwling
for future content , like the previous games did.

As for your first defense..  thats not a defence thats denial and a extra slap in the face to your fans.
but i hope youve all woken up and see that there has to be done something..
i can understand the part where you do not want to ruin it for people that do like the endings
i agree , it should not ruin it for others so that the other side can smile. it should be equally
rewarding no matter what your current thoughts on the endings are.

I agree with Mr.Ray that mass effect 3 as its whole isnt a bad game and i dont think you will find
many people that will say that either or else most likely ( out of anger ) truth is mass effect is a
good game but you cannot denie that the ending has a significant impact in such a way that
it ruins the entire series for alot of people including me.

We ( i ) will wait and hold the line.. iam pretty warry at this point , please prove me wrong
restore the trust and love , and let me enjoy mass effect again like it should be i want to remember
these series as epic..  not what could have been..

Thank you.

This is pretty much exactly what I wanted.  I don't know why everybody's being so grumbly still.

I think this was nice. It's a statement from about as high up the food chain as you can get. He mentions that they want to defend it, but are able to see past their defensiveness, and most importantly, he acknowleges that the fans are displeased. He may be downplaying it a little bit but that was to be expected. He also said they are now working on something in ADDITION to what was originally planned to be worked on, and that gives me hope.

I think it's now important that WE listen to HIM, and take his advice when it comes to being contructive, complaining for the sake of complaining is pointless.

It's a nice gesture. I'll wait till April...but I suspect people are wary of continuing the journey... they've basically been to destination....and it was dump...and as such.. the journey seems like wasted effort. Hopefully it's announced that it's a renovated destination or an entirely different one.

You can't expect them to admit the endings were bad; that's something they would just never do. So people shouldn't be surprised or angry that they're not.

They should at least care about their integrity. "Yes, we screwed that one up".
No harm done. But by negating the awfulness of their work they are just pissing people up, and making their chances of being forgiven, slim.

I cant see how anyone will be upset over that response.

Bioware truly cares about its fans, anyone saying otherwise needs a reality check.

They do care about their fans. But it seems to ignore many of the concerns, nontheless. It focuses on talking about artistic integrity, closure, clarity.

What about the deceptive promotion of the game? What about the inconsistent themes? What about the lack of "possibility space?" Something this very same man once claimed Bioware tries to give the players.

Yep because nothing in that post changes anything. Once again it is very cleverly written to not give away a thing. They could simply be finishing off the true ending as they always intended to do. The 'most' fans could include those who believe in alternative theories and that bioware was / is infact planing something all along.

And I could keep going and pulling it apart but there is really no point. That article still says nothing either way and people will still believe what they want to until such time as we all really know whats going on in April.

Hold the line.

You have now drifted into insanity.

He clearly defends the game as-is, states that it was their artistic intent all along and that people love it except for a "few loyal fans" and that, at most, we're going to get some clarification on THE ENDING.  Get it.  The ending.  The one they intended.  The one in the game that he is clearly talking about.  The one the press reviewed.  The one game tells you you got.

That's the way I read it also. No mention of change, no mention of mistakes, just "answers to questions" and further "clarity and closure".

That statement has filled me with sadness, we are not going to get a new ending, we are just going to get the original one explained and expanded upon.

People main complain is that the ending offer no closure or many hings are not explained. They will fix that, just because you dont get a new ending dosent mean they wont solve many of the problem people see with it.

I'd like to know how they "explain" the endings without massive use of space magic and retconning.

Enough techno-military gibberish  would do the trick. And we couldn't argue that the whole thing makes no sense anymore. If they do such a thing, we're done.
We can't let that happend. But I have no idea what could we do about it.

There you have it people. They WILL change the endings. He said game content. Not Twitter/Blog explanation/fix, actual in-game content we will hear more about in April. Of course they won't change the entire thing, but the endings won't stay exactly the same as they are. We're happy right?

Personally, I expect the Normandy & teleporting squadmates to be fixed/explained, possibly also the return of Investigate options during the Catalyst conversation.

You really do throw artistic integrity out the window when you end your game with a push to buy more content.  Pretty sure Picasso never did that.  ;)

Hear the word, brothers and sisters!

the passionate reaction of some of our most loyal players to the current endings in Mass Effect 3 is something that has genuinely surprised us.

so no indoc theory, no prepared ending, no scandal promotion? just "we screwed, but why are ppl so upset?"

I’m honored to work with them because they have the courage and strength to respond to constructive feedback.

so again we get no statement at the ending (real/planned dlc) just info how awesome bw team is?

Building on their research, Exec Producer Casey Hudson and the team are hard at work on a number of game content initiatives that will help answer the questions, providing more clarity for those seeking further closure to their journey. You’ll hear more on this in April. We’re working hard to maintain the right balance between the artistic integrity of the original story while addressing the fan feedback we’ve received.

translation for us, mere mortals : stfu, because we are busy.

The reaction to the release of Mass Effect 3 has been unprecedented. On one hand, some of our loyal fans are passionately expressing their displeasure about how their game concluded; we care about this feedback, and we’re planning to directly address it. However, most folks appear to agree that the game as a whole is exceptional, with more than 75 critics giving it a perfect review score and a review average in the mid-90s. Net, I’m proud of the team, but we can and must always strive to do better.

Unprecedented? So no Scandal Promotion intended? Just... screwed up the ending?

As for the critics NOBODY, in their right mind, cares about the critics these days, as no major site/magazine is objective anymore.
Also, critics =/= fans

Some of the criticism that has been delivered in the heat of passion by our most ardent fans, even if founded on valid principles, such as seeking more clarity to questions or looking for more closure, for example – has unfortunately become destructive rather than constructive. We listen and will respond to constructive criticism, but much as we will not tolerate individual attacks on our team members, we will not support or respond to destructive commentary.

See guys, that's why no one is responding on this forum. You are such a crowd, line holders.
Understand, that constructive feedback means answering "which moments of ME3 you liked the most".
Voicing your complaints is not constructive feedback, but a trolling.

If you are a Mass Effect fan and have input for the team – we respect your opinion and want to hear it. We’re committed to address your constructive feedback as best we can. In return, I’d ask that you help us do that by supporting what I truly believe is the best game BioWare has yet crafted. I urge you to do your own research: play the game, finish it and tell us what you think. Tell your friends if you feel it’s a good game as a whole.

Again, this seems like "shut up" request to me.

Perhaps it should be written here once and for all:
We did our own research. We played and finished the game. That's why are we here, posting.

And as for what I think about the game as a whole: "average 7/10 ruined by terrible ending".

It's nice to hear an official response, though it does seem to confirm that the endings were written "that way" on purpose and seemingly invalidates the indoc theory.

I'm glad that Ray took the time to write us this and I agree that the feedback should not become destructive. I hope they are looking at all the very CONstructive stuff that has been said/written/made videos about so far by the fans. Lots of good stuff there.

One thing they should keep in mind at BioWare is that the number of good reviews the game got, regardless of how many and how much they sing praises, has no significance whatsoever for the individual player. When I play, I care about what I think of the game, not what reviewers think. So they should stop waving that in our faces like credentials when we have already bought the game.

But otherwise, good read, thanks for taking the time.

Yeesh, what more do you people want? He addressed that fans are unhappy, confirmed that the endings would be expanded upon in some way, and gave us a definitive timetable for more information. I dunno about you guys, but as of now I'm pretty happy with this development. I know we're not completely out of the woods yet, but I'm willing to patiently wait until April, most likely @ PAX, for more info.

It seems like fans are going to accept nothing less than Bioware completely grovelling before them.

that is what I got from reading it at least

well this certainly sounds good. I'm still holding out hope that we can get a happy ending but i read his statement as we're going to get something that just explains the space magic. This is a start though we know something is coming we just don't know to what degree.

Thank you Ray and Bioware for finally speaking out and saying something.

I'm glad you agree. I think optimism is the appropriate response. Bioware's responsivness is something to be appreciated, even if you don't 100% agree with them.
