sorry but what closure? What Ending? You dont tell a story then write the final chapter in gibberish.

He basically said that we're the minority, and that makes our opinions invalid.

But the 80 critics' opinions are more valid than the opinions of the 60,000+ fans who disagree.

I agree. Some of it felt like reiteration of what we already knew/heard/was already said in the post, but that snippet is really promising. Here's hoping that the series gets the ending it deserves.

PR article at it's finest ... too bad it doesn't say anything, except "opinions we can use, are constructive, and opinions we can't use or don't want to answer are destructive" (it's always nice to introduce key labels early to prevent suprises ... like, i don't know, a god child appearing out of nowhere)

How 'bout a nice cup of calm the hell down. This isn't the first time a fantastic series ended on a bad step. It is NOT the end of the world...

Interesting, the most interesting blurb for me is:

"Casey Hudson and the team are hard at work on a number of game content initiatives that will help answer the questions, providing more clarity for those seeking further closure to their journey."

That does not sound like an "alternate ending" xpac, or a new ending. Sounds like they're going to try and stick with the galactic dark age as the results of all your actions.

How do others read it? Go read the whole thing at the link.

It's a nice message, and fairly encouraging.

Still pretty surprised that they're surprised over such a dismal ending - but okay.

Of course they have to try and imply that "most" people loved ME3 on the whole, but the letter wouldn't carefully address the other side as often as it does if that were truly the case.

I like this message, and I like BioWare. I have faith that they're going to rectify this mistake and make ME awesome again for everyone.

What he basically says is: The ending was intended as is, everybody loves it but some of the most passionate fans are a little angry. He thinks it is awesome. They'll answer some questions in April.

With this blog post I lost every respect for BioWare I had left. :/

I think the ONLY thing we can take from this is that they had to bring out one of the doctors to make a statement. Granted, a statement that is overall just as neutral as the one Hudson sent out a few days ago (maybe a TOUCH less so, but still mostly neutral). With that in mind, I think it is safe to say they are still really feeling the heat.

Hold the line.

The thing I just don't understand regarding BioWare is why they would spend nearly a decade building, writing and creating the Mass Effect trilogy, creating a fictional universe with solid rules and plotpoints and story in general, and then in the last 10 minutes of the trilogy just throw all that hard work out the window, with an ending that makes no sense in regard to the rest of the established fiction, not to mention riddled with plotpoints that are so apperent that you take notice of them the first time you watch the ending unfold. Was it to be "artistic"?, in any case, I simply do not understand why they would do that to themselves and the players.

I don't mind if they leave the endings just so long as they explain what the hell happened.

The thing I see in that statement more than anything is his believe that we are a minority, who are being really hateful. We are a big chunk of their fan and money base which is growing steadily by the day that has been doing everything we can to constructive and civil about the issue. If you read at what he said there it feels like he is trying to paint us in the same light most gaming sites are.

The plot thickens!

I am not sure a "better ending" is even possible at this point. This has gone from being about the end of a game to an industry/customer tug of war. If they do anything that gives in, they will fundamentally alter the way their industry works. The question becomes are they willing to take that step. Valve maybe. Bethesda possibly. EA, unlikely. Ubisoft, never.

A fair, polite reply.

However, he's making the mistake of accepting reviewer opinion. Indeed the game as a whole was excellent, but that does not dismiss the fact the final 2% were a huge dissapointed. I don't think all those review sites even got to the endings, before posting on their opinion.

I also agree the movement has become more destructive as of late... dispersive. But that's not an excuse.

Still, good to hear answers are forthcoming in April.

They have basically admitted they never planned on post ending dlc, but now they are considering some kind of solution. I guess that is kind of a victory, if slightly depressing that they didn't realize outright the ending would anger most of their fans.

Before the indoctrinated fans (see wut I did there?) jump all over this, I'm going to point out that this pretty much states clearly that they had no intention of holding anything back from the current ending so any excuse like "it must be indoctrination and they'll reveal their secret soon" just goes completely out the window. Hopefully now we can continue voicing our opinions but please for the love of god don't keep pushing for the Indoctrination Theory.

The thing they keep glossing over is the fact that even in the 75 great reviews the main stream people still say the endings were questionable.  No one is debating the game itself rocked.  We all agree the game itself was awesome.

You’ll hear more on this in April. We’re working hard to maintain the right balance between the artistic integrity of the original story while addressing the fan feedback we’ve received. This is in addition to our existing plan to continue providing new Mass Effect content and new full games, so rest assured that your journey in the Mass Effect universe can, and will, continue."

is the really important paragraph.

agreed - and it can mean ALL. We will see in April

I am a member of the "hold the line movement" and I agree with this statement: They can't completely root canal the ending as that would be an insult to those who actually liked it. But they need to, and possibly are, trying to give us something that will please the rest of the fans which incorporates the current endings as a framework. Possibly as having the starchild as a more fleshed out character/harbinger and having the option to defy him.

I think it took a lot of courage for Ray Muzyka to accept the criticism against the game's ending and I think we as fans need to realize that just because Bioware doesn't have something right at this moment to fix the ending doesn't mean it's not part of their agenda.

It is pretty clear that the ending was intentional and that Bioware realizes they've upset their fanbase with it. So what Dr. Muzyka seems to be implying is that Casey Hudson and his team are going back to the drawing boards and trying to figure out what to do now. We should be patient and give them the support and time needed to deliver a quality product.

Ray Muzkya is also right in saying that the rest of the game outside of the ending is fantastic and it is well deserving of praise. Such a quality product should not have it's legacy tarnished with such an unsatisfactory ending and I am pleased to know that Bioware is addressing this.
