Well put. This may well be the first official "new Mass Effect games are coming" announcement, as well as a thought out input on the continuation of ME3.

I'm glad BioWare took the time to post an informative answer and not just the PR non-answers development houses are much too keen on giving these days (not just BW).

I would like to take the time to say that the game is, indeed, great. I also enjoyed the content of the endings, if not the delivery and inconsistencies. I don't think the vast majority of the playes complaining thinks the game does not deserve high ratings (certainly not the destructive comments found elsewhere in the forums) or that we want a ludicrus "happy ending, everyone rejoices", but we'd just like a good, well thought out storyline that is not just "and then magic happens and other completely generic stuff for little reason", but actually reflects the journey Shepherd embarked on, travelled and brought to a conclusion.

We get it, the gaming "journalists" that get paid for good reviews love it. We know. Enough. That doesn't mean the rest of us are wrong. Or stupid. Just because I don't have a blog.

If pointing to IGN review score is your first instinct you've lost it.

I appreciate the message, but have they mentioned or will they ever explain the other issues (like plotholes)?

Ray, I would LOVE to play the game and see the ending, but PLEASE address the face import issue!

He didn't mention that at all!

i am such a fan of mass effect, i love all the games, including mass effect 3. but after all these years and sooooo many hours, the end of ME3 just was so underwhelming.

"Building on their research, Exec Producer Casey Hudson and the team are hard at work on a number of game content initiatives that will help answer the questions, providing more clarity for those seeking further closure to their journey."

That tells me that the ending we got is the one they intended us to have. I'm sure someone will spin it differently though.

I dig what Dr. Ray's saying. You can maintain artistic integrity and still respond to constructive feedback; it doesn't have to be one or the other. Looking forward to what's coming and enjoying the 99% of ME3 that doesn't crush my soul in the meantime.

It's good to hear a reply, and this is a very promising reply, but I'm sure I'm not the only one who's still shocked the fan outcry has caused genuine surprise in the BioWare camp. It's as if they couldn't anticipate the fact that doing a 180 turn on the BioWare Ending Tradition (which has ALWAYS been about providing closure for every single character you've met on the way to the point that people were riled when DA2 went against a couple of character epilogues from DAOA) would cause outrage. The game writing is well-thought out and arduously detailed in every aspect EXCEPT the ending. Was it really that hard to predict this will not go over well with most players?

That said, I'm still happy that there is a reaction and that the situation might just be remedied.

I agree that the majority of mass effect, all three of them, are fantastic games. and it is because of this fact that the ending of mass effect 3 is all the worse. it feels as if everything the player has worked to achieve over 5 years is destroyed in 4 minutes. i didnt expect a happy ending. but i expected an ending where the universe would continue on in some kind of galactic community.

the mass effect MMO was almost a forgone conclusion in most players minds. with this current ending as canon, how does the universe continue without ret-cpnning the hell out of these events?

I appreciate Ray taking the time to address the matter. As someone who loved the game and was mildly disappointed in the ending, I look forward to seeing what they have in the pipeline to try to answer the unanswered questions,

well, roll on PAX for more by the sounds of it. Let's see if BW can pull this back.  I hope you can.

Closure!? I don't care about no stinkin' closure!

The problem here is how astonshingly ridiculous and nonsensical the ending is. I was literally staring at my TV wondering why BioWare would write such a brilliant game for the first 19 hours, then nuke the lore and create plot holes large enough that entire planets could get through them.

Gah, I'll stop there...

Imagine if "The Lord of the Rings" ended as Mass Effect 3 ended:

Frodo gets to Mt. Doom and finds out that the fire is not actually fire but is the Architect from The Matrix: Reloaded or the starchild from Mass Effect.

I appreciate what he has to say, seriously, seems like they are serious about an ending dlc, but oh how I also wish that for once, you'd get the impression that the responsible persons would deviate from streamlined PR-speak, saying things like "hey you know what, you're right, there are an awful lot of plotholes" or "we thought the ending was a good idea, but before we created it, we made quite a few false promises".

Why are people still hating on Bioware? They made a few gaming mistakes but for the most part they knocked the Mass Effect series out of the park. I hope that this will make people ease up on all the anger brooding in these forums and on the web.

I haven't really posted here much, if at all, but I have been checking out the latest when it comes to ME 3. Like most, I felt a certain way when the game ended, however, seeing this from Ray makes me have some form of hope.

Truly, The Mass Effect series is great and I, repeatedly, say that it is the Star Wars of Video Games and our Generation. Mass Effect 1 started the journey, Mass Effect 2 expanded on the journey and Mass Effect 3 was the epic conclusion. As much pain as I felt when I beat ME 3, I will trust in bioware on this. I will trust that they will finish the fight on earth and conclude this story in the ME universe.Good going bioware, I await news in April and I will place my trust in you.

Ever game is always rushed as gamers want the game out. I would want a game nice an polished also perfect then a game that's rush.. Maybe if bioware made an upset to fix features and place stuff in the game would be ok.
I still think they should of place three dvds 1 dvd for multiplayer vs and the other 2 dvds for the campaign..

I'm glad we got this message - and at least some form of confirmation that content is being created to appease the displeasure with the endings - but I'm always a little wary whenever they only refer to it as "content" that will help give closure.

The entire game revolves around closure. You get a massive portion of "ending" material throughout the game. The thing I'm hoping for is an epilogue of some sort, though. When they only refer to it as "content", that could be fitted anywhere in the game.

You lose any claim to artistic integrity when the final thing we see in the game is an ad for DLC.

I don't think we're hating, per se, (i'm not). We just want the ending to reflect the rest of what is quite rightly a fantastic series. I have nothing but respect for the me team, they have done a great job, but the ending hasn't worked for whatever reason and needs to be addressed.

I don't think it'll ease up the pressure, but i think it'll make the fans happy knowing that their voice has reached the top, which means we must be doing something right

So..... any word yet on the face importing issue?
