It's just not the ending I'm upset. It's the entire game that was "rushed" or at least it certainly felt that way. It all could have been avoided if Bioware/EA was given a longer time on developing the game. I definitely would have waited another year if it meant the game could have turned out better.

1. Better Script Writing (i was bored with the writings of Shepard)
2. Seeing Characters comeback like Wrex - remember he was a squad mate but not in ME:3...???why? yet, we get james vega/ EDI. and what happened to Zaeed? / Jack/ Grunt......all these were once squad mates and yet ignored and left the game after there "part" was over.............all can have been avoided

3. None of my choices seemed to matter in ME:3. I chose Capt. Anderson as the Human Rep and UDINA is instead the Rep Automatically.........though I didn't even chose him
4. Rachni, I had them destroyed.........yet in ME:3 the choice really didn't matter cause the "Queen" is still there...........
5. The "romance" relationship was pathetic......I'm sorry to say Bioware I was disappointed on how you really handled the romance. Not everyone is a "Liara" fan.......and you gave her so much coverage in the ME series... yet I feel you really ignored the others. Was this laziness or due-to-time??? If it was time shortage........then again all this could have been avoided if allowed another year.
6. I wish Harbinger was in the game..........but he was cut to merely 10secs at the very end of the game...:(:unsure:and didn't even say one word to Shepard........................again all of this could have been avoided

Well put. This may well be the first official "new Mass Effect games are coming" announcement, as well as a thought out input on the continuation of ME3.

That could easily mean more DLCs coming. Not sequels.

Although IIRC, the idea of Mass Effect 4 coming out as a prequel to the main series has already been discussed. Something about wanting to show the histories of the other races. So that could also be what the guy is referring to.

I don't like the way this letter is worded. It constantly tries to belittle and pigeon hole complainers as 'minority, core fans'.

'Some folks didn't like it, most did. Look at the reviews paid critics gave'.

He then brings up the bullying incident at the end in a way which subtetly relates it to all people who are complaining of the ending, demonizing us all.

Then we finally see what this letter was really about 'don't express your opinion in ways we don't like, only tell your friends your opinion if you liked the game'.

Bioware are scared that our protests are going to effect long term sales of ME3. This letter was designed to placate a vocal fan base, while condemning us as well.

classy move, Bioware.

The same arrogance prevailed after DAII was released. And we see now how they were ultimately humbled and now dedicating whole threads to talking with fans and trying to win them over.

With all respect, it seems like there were things that got too much attention that were completely unnecessary. Like that IGN bimbo making an appearance in the game, for one. Why couldn't the time and effort put into getting her in the game have been spent on making some other aspect of the game better?

After one of their writers is severely bullied.....

After their devs and writers receive death threats....

After some tool files a complaint against them to the US Federal Trade Commission...

...they have every right to be mad and hurt towards an ungrateful fanbase.

To go to such disturbing lengths over video games is demented. They really should tell all of us to eff off.

Unfortunately, I have to agree. The fact that they are addressing this at all should be welcomed... There are a lot of legitimate complaints I feel, but reading some of the craziness about people's reactions to a video game.... Man.

Dear Bioware
I love Mass Effect 1,2 and 3 they are unparalleled, but we hate the ending of ME3, if you do not understand why, then watch this film from "Angry Joe" he sum it up pretty good.

I've never bullied any of their writers or sent death threats, I never filed a complaint to the US Federal Trade Commission and I've never been ungrateful.

You Sir are so right, I should pay for the actions of others, I should have no right to say what I think about a flawed ending on a game I truely love.

If anyone should be told to eff off, it should be the people that actully did the things your talking about not the whole fan base, IMHO.

It is nice to finally hear something, but I'm afraid this isn't enough. It is not clear "Yes we screwed up" or "No we had our vision, we won't change it". I will keep supporting Retake movement until I have confirmed "Ending Fix" DLC on my computer or there is official announcement that promises said DLC

Russian fantast-writer criticizes the ending. (I apologize for Russian language in 40min voice-audio)
You can listen it here
The key it is that the ending does not give us feel of satisfaction, and even what kind it is, we do not give a sense of humility. The fact that all of this - is a line. Verdict: The ending just illogical and fans who have lived with Mass Effect since 2007 deserve to get more, maybe even a happy ending...

p.s. I didn't know where to post it for better view.

Right now I'm a bit more disappointed in how EA Bioware (as in cooperation, not any one specific) handled the whole affair. Fans are Fans no matter the circumstances and not just when it suits one. the whole thing left me sad and to some degree distrustful of any game companies, for that matter "professional reviewers" as well. It is well and nice to "profess to listen to constructive feedback" of fans and then still marginalize them etc. when it doesn't "suit" the bottom line.

I kind of had that feeling after DA2 came out on the way it was handled then and the same thing happened, to my impression, now. It doesn't make me angry otherwise I'd be out of here .. but it makes me incredible sad overall. If fans are fans critical about ones work or not, then there should be more then some sideline acknowledgement. There should also be some form of public support in regards to media. EA / Bioware was just tooo happy to accept "fan criticism" of Fox New etc. when ME1 came out ... and now? I don't see the same support as then ... :(.

Then please apply the same curtesy as well. Fans are fans because they like the product / company / club / movie etc. to make suggestion one first have to define what is "wrong" with a product and then define "what needs to be improved and how".

I agree that the majority of mass effect, all three of them, are fantastic games. and it is because of this fact that the ending of mass effect 3 is all the worse. it feels as if everything the player has worked to achieve over 5 years is destroyed in 4 minutes. i didnt expect a happy ending. but i expected an ending where the universe would continue on in some kind of galactic community.

the mass effect MMO was almost a forgone conclusion in most players minds. with this current ending as canon, how does the universe continue without ret-cpnning the hell out of these events?

Agreed. A Mass Effect MMO would be the best thing to happen, in my opinion, since breathing air. The ending does not leave any hope of that, at least not in a fashion that would be representative of the original spirit of the game (i.e. the mingling of a large galactic community).

I've brushed off a lot of tragic and/or disappointing endings to movies, stories, and games in my life as artistic perspective and have respected the creator's vision for them.. but not for Mass Effect. You spend 3 games putting a lot of time and effort bringing the galaxy together (or bullying it, depending on your alignment), the most dramatic of which takes place in the third installment. All of that gets thrown out the window in the last minutes of the game. That isn't artistic, that's a forced conclusion that rewards nobody because you couldn't figure out how to reward everybody, with a little bit of "trying to be special" sprinkled on top. Not to mention there is absolutely no closure with your love interest.

We understand you and your employees are passionate Mr. Muzyka, how else could we have experienced one of the best (in my opinion, THE best) universes of all time? However, do not take a half-stance on this. All I am getting from this article is that Bioware likes how things turned out and we're silly for thinking otherwise, but they're going to give us a little water to make this terrible thing easier to swallow. I want a different entree, not a glass of water (or a bottle of vodka, as the case may call for).

Please no! Keep Mass Effect away from the MMORPG mess. While they did a nice try with SWTOR the storytelling in a MMORPG can never be as good as in a single player game.

http://www.shamusyou...edtale/?p=15395 has a rather thorough deconstruction of the ending and why it fails. Worth a read.

if mass effect wasn`t a fantastic series, no one would complain about the ending or wharever...

looking at the evolution of ME, i think that Bioware was trying to do what the fans were asking and i think they did a great job doing it, but about ME endings, it is REALLY hard to finish a game that became so popular without make people angry because of this or that, it`s like when you go to the movies and it was great until the end... you always think that this could happen or it should be this way and whatever... it`s impossible to make everybody happy... but Bioware has made so many great games that people expect it be almost perfect... how many great games bioware has done and how many fails they have... it easy to say... the only big fail i have ever played from bioware was DA2 and that was it...

for me they are doing a great job and i believe that they will do something about the endings, but still not everyone will be happy, that`s the reality...

PS: i wouldn`t buy a MEmmo, because i don`t like the idea to buy a game and then have to pay everymonth to play it... just my opinion tough

You obviously are not paying attention to the critisism being given by the fans. The fact that shepard dies it not the issue. More manhood? I would like to point out that you are the one namecalling and polluting the forum, most people here are just giving constructive critisism to a piece of fiction they like.
