So while rolling the indotrunation theory around in my head this idea came to me.

If the ending is a halucination than the ending options themselves are only representations of what is going on in Shepard's head. I will assume that the first part of the ending with TIM is the attempt to take over Shepard. The part with the kid and what he says does not matter. They do not reflect the true intentions or purpose of the Reapers. Ever talked to someone who was realy sick with a high fever and had them say something makes no sense, or talked to someone under the affects of a mind altering drug? That is all that conversation realy was. The three options are Shepard's mind trying to understand the crucibal interfacewhile also dealing with continued indotrination attempts. The meaning of the synthesis and control options are relative to whatever the ultimate goal of the cycles and reapers are.

The distrustion ending.
Shepard rejects other forms of interaction with the reapers. Possible the game returns to the fight for earth and the ultamate outcome relies on war assets. The crucibal uses its weapon option and weakens the reapers in some way. It is not an auto win and you could still end up with mutual aniliation. Whatever the goal or intent of the reapers is discarded in favor of the races of the doing things on their own.

Some of my own speculation on possible reaper motivations. Around half way down.

I want to know what others think would be the revealed in ending dlc. Feel free to skip the rest of my post. I get into a little rant.

My musing have no real affect on what Bioware decides to do. There are a lot of holes that rely on what the complete ending is and the complete backstory of the reapers and the crucibal. It is still entirely possible for Bioware to screw this up even more. If they do release a continued ending they would have to do it well. The exicution that they chose has far too many problems with assumed reaction and presentation. If they make it good they could recover from their bad publicity but until then I will assume the worst. It sets a bad precedent to intentionaly cut the ending out of a game and then sell it seperately. If they want to do something like that a better method would be to allow free download of the first two thirds of a game and have a purchase (hardcopy or digital) contain the whole story.
