Is it just me or are the prices for DLC to this game ridiculously expensive?

I thought about buying a couple in the hopes of getting a more interesting "companion"  for the party.

Price: 1600 Bioware points . This equals 150 bucks in my local currency (swedish). Now the full DA II game has been availiable for a 100 bucks in many, many places for many months now and when I bought it, it was on a special GAME-store offer: 50 bucks...

This means I would have to pay 3 times as much, in order to download two minor extensions to the full game. Is it just me or is there some kind of "pricing-snafu" going on in the DLC-section??? :(

DLC prices are pretty crazy to begin with, and Bioware's apparent policy of never reducing them and never having sales makes them even crazier, yeah.  So there's no snafu, they just cost a lot of money.

Though I should note that "The Exiled Prince" is the only DLC that'll give you a new companion, and that costs 560 points.

I see...

Depressing, yet lucky at the same time. Since I would have assumed that either "Mark of the Assassin" or "Legacy" contained additional companions. I´ll check out "The Exiled Prince" instead and see if I think it could be worth buying.

Thanks!

The price of DA:O and all related DLC is something like $130 USD on the Playstation Store. For a three year old game...

The prices are too damn high!

I'm not sure what's going on with DA's DLC. They've done the same with ME 2. No bundles and no sales. No simple way to access them.

Why do I need to go to the EA Online store, buy BioWare points, and then head to the BioWare store and buy DLC? EA publishes BioWare's games and my Origin account is what I use to log on to the BSN. Let me buy the DLC at the Origin store.

Breakfast, lunch, and dinner?

Dragon Age: Origins Ultimate Edition with the expansion pack and all DLC is $29.99 on Steam, and I've seen it drop to $19.99 during sales. Might want to check that out if you're not adverse to PC gaming.

Isn't that supposed to be 16 US$ ???

Anyone know whether these stable, relatively high prices are standard EA policy?

It´s rather unusual by itself, as DLC/expansions of most other publishers, not just on Steam, are frequently on sale.:?

At today currency-values,"1600 Bioware Points" equals roughly 150 Swedish Crowns(SEK), which in turn equals 22,33 US-dollars. So it´s a little bit more.

yea, but not the 150.00 the op is claiming, but then I would move to another country or heck if the economy is that bad I wouldn't be playihg games, I think at that point I would be farming for food to survive !

Sorry, since english isn´t my native laguage, perhaps i miswrote in my first post. I used the term "150 bucks" as a direct substitute for "150 Crowns", since I thought it would be more familiar to most people.

To clarify, MotA has a companion who joins you for the length of the DLC, but isn't a permanent companion.

Thanks, though I already went ahead with the "560 points" option. I may return to the other two DLC:s, if/when the price ever drops.

150 bucks is 1009 SEK. You can see why people would think that game prices are really high where you live if a DLC was '150 bucks.'

Lol, yes I certainly can.

I was under the mistaken assumption that the term "bucks", was an american term that simply refered to single units of currency. Not necessarily the dollar, but any kind of currency. Sort of like "coins" or "bills" and similar words.

I prefer the comfort of my couch. I don't understand why EA insists on such high prices for the digital console versions of their games and DLC. I don't mind paying a little bit extra for the convenience, but not $130.

Actually , I have seen DA:O Ultimate recently for $9.99 (i think it was Gamersgate on sale), but fully sure) which is not bad deal , considering that you get much better game.

hardly, if i had to compare dlc from Origins and DA2, DA2 dlc actually fits well(except maybe the weapon packs), where as for the dlc that gives you Shale is worth 1200msp(i think, its been awhile since ive looked) Legacy and MotA clearly offers more than any of the Origins dlc

Just a wild guess - but I'm wondering if the pricing is because of the consoles.

I believe that Sony and MS get a chunk of anything that is downloaded through them, which might make it harder for BioWare to reduce prices for those platforms.

Possible. But I'm more inclined to think that it's EA being greedy. A lot of other games on PSN have cheaper bundle deals. The complete edition of Red Dead Redemption is $30, for example.

You can purchase bioware points right here on the BSN. You don't need to go to the EA store or origin. That said, I do agree it would be nice to just purchase the DLC directly (which you can, oddly enough, if you buy them via the PSN).

So i've been wanting to play thru dragon age 1 and 2 again. I noticed today steam had a sale for the dragon age 1 ultimate $7.50. i was missing several DLCs which would have cost over twice to have all the DLCs.

I just wish EA would have let Steam sell DA2. Steam prices suck most of the time but every once and a while their sales rock.

Its aggravating... Especially when they do not lower the dlc prices even for a game that's 4 years old.

Most games don't lower their prices ever, aside from sales. At least to the best of my knowledge... Resident Evil 5's DLC is still the same price, despite being released the same year as DAO.

Maybe they had a DA2 Ultimate Edition planned but got scrapped when the Exalted March DLC got canned... I don't know. The theme with Bioware seems to be physical editions that include the game + dlc.

Standard fare for the dlc, just sucks there's no GOTY. The equipment you get is awesome/exciting considering the quality in game highlight items were discovered infrequently and often too late to have much impact. Plus Black Emporium provides you the opportunity to create an amazing spellbook early on, which is nice. They should've bundled though, I spent 4000 MS points but atleast game itself was practically costless.
