I'm still getting EclipseRay errors when trying to render the lightmap. I've installed ActivePython2.5 and EclipseRay 1.1, but when I try to render light maps EclipseRay crashes and the toolset says: Job submission process failed with a return code of '-1073740777'.
I got this working on my laptop fine, but I wonder if I missed a step somewhere on my desktop. Any ideas?

Still struggling with this. I've looked around for any solution, but I still haven't found anything.

What version of ActivePython2.5 are you using? 32bit or 64bit?
If 64bit, uninstall and replace with 32bit.
Also when in the processes does it fail and return that error code?

Using ActivePython 2.5.4.4 32-bit, Toolset 1.0.0.194, Windows XP Home SP3.
It happens just after telling it to do all export operations. First it says it failed to find the lightmap-atlas info for every model. A portion of those errors (cut short, as there are about 40 lines):
W: 21:10:15 - Failed to find lightmap-atlas info for model 'fhe_midsq_0', part '_3a'
W: 21:10:15 - Failed to find lightmap-atlas info for model 'fhe_midsq_0', part '_3a'

W: 21:10:15 - Failed to find lightmap-atlas info for model 'fhe_midslant_0', part '_40'
Then the last two messages after the list of models:
E: 21:11:19 - Failed to submit lightmap layout [citymap]
E: 21:11:19 - Job submission process failed with a return code of '-1073740777'.

That error seems to be caused by an incorrect version of Python or missing dependancies. Here is a link that describes your error. ( it says that error code -1073740777 is due to incorrect python or it's dependancies)
http://social.biowar...set#Lightmapper
I had exactly the same thing, thought I had the correct version of python(2.5.4) but didnt. I un-installed python and re-installed using the links in the above page(ActivePython 2.5.4.4 w/dependencies) and the new lightmapper 1.1 and it worked like a charm.
Hope this helps a bit

Thanks for your input Trampzabout. Previously, I had already checked the ActivePython installation and it was 2.5.4.4. After that removed it and tried Python 2.5 plus the dependency files it needed. That didn't work either, so I've removed that and tried the link to ActivePython through the link you provided and it's still the same thing.
Like I mentioned before, I did the exact same thing with my laptop (running Vista Home Ult. SP2) and it worked just fine. For some reason on my desktop (XP Home SP3) it keeps doing this.
Other than the EclipseRay 1.1 and ActivePython 2.5.4.4, is there something else I should have installed that I might be missing?

hmm, That does sound strange. It would have to be something to do with the software configuration as you say, something you are missing or havent got configured. I cant for the life of me think exactly what it would be.
There is a few things you could try though, kind of trial and error to pinpoint what's causing the problem.
You could re-install the old-lightmapper from the toolkit download and see what error you get with that if it's the same or not, which could tell you if a part of you 1.1 download was corrupt or somthing..
I noticed in one of your above posts that your toolkit versoin is 1.0.0.194. I cant say for sure what the numbering convention is on the versions of the toolkit, but mine is 1.0.982.0. You could maybe try re-downloading the toolkit again( painful I know lol ) and un-installing/re-installing it to see if the version you are using is causing the error.(I grabbed mine about a week after launch, dont know if it makes a difference, I would assume it would be the same download from the time it was released until patch time but maybe not...)
Only other thing I can think of, would be to double check that your python is there and running properly by getting your hands on some other python apps and checking they'll run with it without giving strange errors.. you should be able to find some simple little apps with a google search or maybe from the python website.
To answer you last question, I dont think there is anything else that you need to have installed. My system is winxp x86 service pack3, patched.. toolset 1.0.982.0 and the version of sql express that came with it, the Eclipseray 1.1 download and the Activepython w/dependancies from the link I posted above(I used the single download one, the 3rd link). I did manually patch my visual C runtime due to the 1.01a patch startup bug, but that shouldnt affect it I wouldnt think.
Otherwise my system is fairly clean, a few games, photoshop, 3dmax09, visual studio08 and visual SVN and just utilities like zipers and spyware checkers and firewalls and whatnot - everything is patched. I cant think of anything that you could be missing, im sorry.
I hope this helps some and that you figure it out.

Well, that toolset version thing is certainly interesting. My internet has been down all day. My ISP just fixed things on their end so I can go download the toolset again and try that. I'll look at getting something for Python as well and see if that runs. I'll post back after I've tried both. Thanks for the info.

Ok, I've reinstalled the toolset, but I'm still getting an error. However, it's not the same error code as before:
Job submission process failed with a return code of '-1073741811'.
Still no idea what's wrong with it though.

Ok, I got a chance to play with Python today and it all seems to be running properly. I tried again with Eclipse Ray 1.0 as well, and it's still doing it.

Well, installed the new EclipseRay 1.2, now I'm back to error code -1073740777.
So far I've tried:
EclipseRay 1.1 from 1.0
Redownloading and reinstalling the toolset (now using 1.0.0.194)
ActivePython 2.5.4.4
Python.org 2.5
Back to ActivePython 2.5.4.4
Reverting to EclipseRay 1.0
Upgrading to EclipseRay 1.2
And still nothing but error codes.

Ok, don't know what happened. Today, I went to render the light maps for some reason, and it started working. Don't know why. I haven't made any changes, so beats me.
Ah, the great mysteries of the universe. haha
