There's no need for me to elaborate, to call the quality inconsistent would be an understatement. If you are mystified by the words you're reading, put someone in blood dragon plate next to someone wearing the warden commander armor and look at the textures. There are countless other examples but a uniform texture resolution would be wonderful. Ciao.

I have noticed this too my friend and while I would agree most textures are beautiful their are obvious signs of textures being incosistent.

The best explaination I have deduced and heard others speak of is that the game was so huge that when they first created the intial texture they were built using adifferent devepment engine or process. By the end the textures were brilliant and you can actually see aged graphics compared to new and the developers obviously already given years to work on the game were under pressure from big boss AE didn't have time to re-map the older tech textures.

But from atari's remake of the "The chronicles of riddick :escape from butcher bay" added to :Assault on Dark Athena in a two chronicle pack had the look of really dated 2004 graphics of "Butcher Bay" compared to Dark Athenas and they updated the models and textures and made them look amazingly improved, much more similar and homogeneous with the look of Dark Athena. A very good call on Ataris part I feel. So I think a patch could be made by BIOWARE that could update textures they originally had no time to re-work. I am only assuming???

But I still LOVE the game, and thouroughly enjoy it despite the differences, but those texture updates would make it shine much brighter and may have brought those 9.2s or 4 out of 5's to 100%s or 5 of 5 reviews? Just a thought.

Oh yeah it's a great game, for sure but quality is absolutely worthless when it lacks consistency. What's the point of choosing high texture detail in the options when high detail textures don't exist for a lot of items? I play on medium texture quality now to lower all textures to that uniform resolution. I'd rather the whole game look dated than half of it look new and the other half dated as if they never really finished it.

Seeing all the CGI commercials and hearing from people how beautiful this game is, I'm a little disappointed. I honestly think Oblivion looks better, and that game is almost 4 years old.

They use a lot of HDR techniques, and a lot of normal maps.

If you can just nail the textures, that gives all the frame buffer effects that much more beauty to work with. A simple resolution increase for the older textures (were they designed that their current resolution?) would exponentially increase the immersion and and give the environment and characters the wow factor they need to really drive home the amazing story. Truly grand visions can be emotional with this game's musical score and plot.

I wish we could get a developer or some sort of rep to at least comment on this. That would be swell. Can the affected textures be repackaged a higher resolution and then patched into the game? Surely the texturing team didn't create them at the resolution we see. Textures haven't actually been designed at a resolution that low since WoW.

It is definately possible, as there are unofficial texture mods available (here on this site). To give a couple examples:

Take a look at: http://social.biowar...bw_projects.php (but I personally hope for an official patch though.)

Very nice, thanks for the link to the mod. I wish someone would tell us if they had plans on patching the lower resolution textures or if they were just going to leave them as is. Oh well, I guess we'll have our answer in time.

Well they've said that a bunch of the PC textures are the wrong low-res version. Presumably that means they'll fix it at some point...

In the meantime the texture mods suffice!

I agree with digital freak, since it is a multi release they seem to find a happy medium to hit a unified release date, but we as hardcoregamers (I say this because we are here noticing specific placings of low res tex maps) don't build 2,000+ rigs for multi res grphics when we set max res, max AA, v-sync enabled, and digital post effects, the whole enchilada so to speak.

Neil Decurio-excellent proof of the work of arcDaniel to really bring the blood dragon armor to a Much better resolution. I gaurantee it was an original idea created early to go with the whole blood dragon concept then lter brainstormed into a DLC only special for prompt pre-buyers and such, but woops forgot to update it since the intital model test phase.

If enough people ask maybe they will create a good (patch) that works without alot of copy this here paste this pray here and re-write this. and hace easy multi user patch to bump a solid res.

Until, then maybe thats why they released the toolset for the PC users to let the talented of us be useful to them and finish up some odd ends as arcDaniel has done rather well. GOOD JOB bro.

But Official patches don't give that hope my game still works after I overwrite these files feeling as much, no offense to any talented authors out there.
