Probably more than anything.  Am I the only one who thinks they are running from a grenade, but in actuality they are running right on to the grenade.  I mean, the icon is such a horrible indicator for where it is.

Yes, I realize that ANY icon is better than none, but I swear to god if there wasn't an icon I think I'd do better because half the time I go against my gut feeling of where the grenade was thrown.

I don't really *hate* the grenade itself, I just find it annoying when enemies perfectly toss a grenade 30 yards into a little cubby I am using for cover.

I mean, all in all, that truly is my biggest gripe.  So, don't be fooled, since THAT is my biggest annoyance in the game, I would make clear that I love it.  Or, want to make love to it.

I even don't mind the ending. :wizard:

Yea the enemies are surgical grenade tossers especially on insanity.

Just assume it's right at your feet and move every time. 99% of the time that's where it will be. Squad Cryo Ammo is a perfect way to reduce grenade spam. enemies will freeze so easy if you max it out that you can blast an entire group and shut them down.

Also moving left or right is the preffered direction when dodging grenades.  That seems the best way to avoid dmg.

Yea, I'm playing on insanity... and I can say that after my initial barrage of dying before I adjusted my tactics, I have ONLY died because of terrible grenade dodges. That's "only" in the last 3-4 hours.

Yea imo the only difference in hardcore and insanity is grenade spam. Everything else seems the same.

I have an incredibly fast Pull recharge. So if anything doesn't get frozen, I'll just start floating everyone. :) Btw if an enemy gets frozen mid grenade toss, it won't release.

I hate grenades too. So many times have I been playing on Insanity and I have to run from an insta-kill grenade, only to get put full of bullet holes. Probably just been doing it wrong since everyone and their mother already has beat insanity five times over though.

Also, I rarely look for the icon, I go by sound.

I like the grenades - it adds an extra dimension where you just can't pick one spot and hide in cover the entire fight.

That is a good point, Sakaja. But, I mean, the enemies will flank you if you sit too long. Plus, I almost NEVER sit for longer than a moment, since I'm a Vanguard and all...

But, I see what you're saying.

X-President, I haven't played hardcore. I didn't see a reason to try that when I would have to play again on Insanity. I also have been using pull. I love having Liara use a singularity on an enemy far away, after I use energy drain to strip them of their barrier, then I use pull to bring them in close so I can shotty them to death. It equates to me using pull like 4 times on a guy, and sometimes they just randomly go flying off into the atmo lol.

lol, yea floating them off cliffs is fun. Personally I think they should take fall dmg. I mean sometimes I've seen them fall like 4 stories. I think if they are frozen they should definitely shatter at least.

I ended up playing hardcore becasue I started on Normal. That was just too easy so I upped it to Hardcore. I didn't care so much because I wanted to do a Paragon and Renegade run anyways.

I really don't mind the grenades, but I think it's kind of a cheap way to increase difficulty by having it spammed like crazy. Then they put you into situation where you load in a corner with a group of enemies ready to grenade you from every direction.

Also why do Reapers, Cerberus, and Geth use the same grenade? Personally I don't think it fits with the story.

What, you'd rather be hit by cluster grenades, lift grenades, or incendiary grenades? :P

Well I meant more of a visual style and design, but that sounds like fun.  :)  At least I could call that Insanity.

This is how I learned to avoid grenades as well, and it worked out so well that by the end I ceased to consider grenades a significant threat.

Early on, I instinctively wanted to do a backwards roll away from the icon, which very often put me on top of what turned out to be a well-placed grenade behind cover (as the original post notes!). Moving left or right not only gets you away, but it also gets you moving from a cover position that enemies are fixated on.
