Read it carefully.

First, his tone is still defensive. He still claims he wants to protect his "artistic integrity" and he still points at the reviews from the critics as justification for the quality of the game. He does *not* stand up and say "We need to make a satisfying game experience for our customers. We misjudged what they would find satisfying. We are going to change the game to address that problem."

What he does say is that they will add content to provide answers and closure. He is *not* saying that they will provide a more satisfying ending.

This is not a victory. Bioware is still refusing to give their customers what they want.

Sadly a lot of people will find that this is proof that Bioware cares and go running back to them after(if any) DLC comes out.

The entire post sounds like a college are student who reilised that people hate his work and instead of just coming out and saying it was bad  has said that they will sit you down and explain it to you because you dont "get it"

What you have here is a start but nothing solid. There's the promise of explanation but not addition. I think a lot of people already expected ending explanation DLC was on the cards, the more cynical among us even wondered if the ending were so confusing for precisely that reason - DLC sales. A promise to fix the plot holes would be more more solid. Sadly it's not over yet.

agreed. its nice to see the co-founder making a statement but unless there is solid agreements such as "yes we are makeing Dlc to alter/change ending". i welcome any DLC they make, doesnt mean I'll buy it though, not till we have/get an explanation on the end of this magnificent triligy. till then... HOLD THE LINE!!!

I believe the correct approach to all of this is the following.

1.) Accept the olive branch in good faith.

2.) Indicate that you are happy that bioware seems to be leaning towards reworking the ending to something more pallatable to the fans.  (Expressly point out that you are happy because of the specific circumstances that you expect are happening are that they are reworking the ending.  Every time you praise the decision specifically note that their post gives us the impression that they are reworking the ending.)

3.) Indicate that you will still be unable to purchase any DLC until the endings issue has been resolved, but note that it does seem likely that after the endings, there is clearly a case to be made for purchasing more DLC.

(And we're currently only in the burning the pyre stage of this video.  It's not time for stormtrooper helmets yet.)

To be honest the statement released was very non-committal. I certainly wouldn't even consider calling this a victory until more details are released. I suggest that everyone just continue voicing their complaints in a polite and concise matter and hope that more details emerge at the PAX convention in a couple of weeks.

Don't be placated by vauge non-committal "promises." Now, I'm not saying go out and rage about this. Maintain your class, but don't let up the pressure until we have a specific answer Bioware/EA can't back out of. This latest move could be the delivering stone walls tactic atghunter has mentioned before. Don't stop holding the line, not when we are so close!

For me, this is what I've wanted to hear from Bioware all along. If they address the issues, they will have my undying support. If they don't, I won't ever buy another Bioware game. We DO NOT need to treat the employees badly though. They made a mistake, in my opinion, on the ending of the game. I'm more than willing to let them fix it. This is how I'm Holding the Line.

Hate this "we won" saying.

I never set out to defeat BioWare. I love BioWare, and ME3 was a overall a epic ride.

Yes like everyone else i didnt like the ending, and gods know we been through this many times so i wont detail why the i didnt like the ending. Point is im not out to defeat anyone, i just wish for BioWare to give this franchise its epic conclusion it deserves, we deserve it and BioWare deserve it.

Once the DLC is here i can say we did it but until then it's still not over. It's right now all PR talk and damage control from Bioware so don't stop and think it's over

I hope we get good stuff coming at us. But we don't know what it is, how much it'll cost, or when it's coming. I don't know what you're celebrating. But have fun and don't hit yourself in the eye with a champagne cork.

No.

1) We still haven't received fills to plot holes, purposes for material supplies, etc.

2) BioWare (or EA) is not bound by this promise. See "16 different endings".

This is exactly right. It's depressing how many of us are behaving poorly when we just got the best news we've had since the beginning of this.

True that.

Dr. Muzyka's statement about what they're looking into is nothing more than an Epilogue to the existing ending. So, in 6 months they ask us to pay $10 so that we can see still images with some contextualized comments based on our decisions, but otherwise Space Magic is the only ending we get.

That is why we must continue to hold the line.  This statement shows that we have won 90% of the battle they are just trying to get us to stop returning the game and get rid of the negative press.  If we continue to hold and make it clear that what we are fighting for are new endings not an extended version of the endings we have non and we don't touch their products(including this DLC they say they are working on)then in a month I am sure they will have to start work on real endings, onesw that respond to our feed back. What they are doing now is the last desperate move of people who know they have been called out on their lies and that they have lost.  They are hoping we will assume this is the best we can do when it is not.  They need us.  Don't let this all be for nothing show them that when they tell us something is going to be in a game it had better be there or they will think they can get away with this.  please remember all the lies and don't trust them.  Please don't throw away victory, continue to hold the line.

Please check out this group and join in.

Sounds like they won't get rid of starchild. The more I think about it, the more I hate the endings and don't want to replay it. And I want to replay it.
I'm in a bit of a pickle

G4 has an article on this:

http://www.g4tv.com/...gamer-concerns/

I do have a few concerns about it though.

Dr Muzyka says the DLC will "clarify" the ending. To me, this means that they aren't going to change it, just explain to the majority of us that don't "get it". It doesn't need explanations or rationalizations to make it work, it's badly written and full of plot holes.

Second he cited "artistic integrity" again. Now whether or not you feel gaming is Art is irrelevant to this issue. Bioware has said many many times that we, the fans, help make the game. Now they are basically tellnig us to bugger off because this is the ending they wanted and we should be happy with it cuz it's Their Art. This is a weak excuse. This was like people defending Lucas when he made the Force caused by bacteria.

Next, Dr Muzyka seems to not be able to tell the difference between Critic and User reviews. He seems to dismiss our complaints by saying "well the game got great reviews". Yes, it got great CRITIC reviews but USER reviews are overwhelmingly negative. Personally, I ignore critic reviews as user reviews tend to me more representative of the quality of the game (or whatever). Remember, in 2009 the Critics said The Hurt Locker was the best movie of the year over Avatar.

Glad we got some official response, now have to wait til April to see if Bioware does the right thing for the fans, the game and Shephard.

Remember people: HOLD THE LINE

I agree with this topic title totally. We've all played games with horrible endings, Gamefly even has that commercial making fun of it. How many companies would even humor you, let alone actually mean it?

I don't say break the line, but be like Kirahhe on Virmire waiting for his orders. We're still here. In April, if things go south, then we have every right to get mad (not that it will do much good for ME3, at that point, but it could show solidarity to other game companies in the future.) But for now, I say we give them a chance.
