I didnt bother to look at all the posts here, there may alrdy be one like this but-

Unless its just me, I believe that the game ends after killing the arch demon right? Why not keep the game open? let the main character adventure on for an eternity if she wants. This also leads to another question, DLC in the future, like this return to Ostagar thing. Am I to create a new character each time you come up with something new, as in, am I suposed to not kill the last boss and just sit and wait for DLC? such as it is, im kinda frustrated if thats the case. Cant / wont complete the main story, as the main char automatically lives happily ever after- and wont take part of any new DLC in the future.

heh no way guys, its gotta change it asap. Image IPB

My mage can't keep going after the killing the Arch demon, I killed Loghain before I knew we would need an expendable Grey Warden (since I also made Alliastair king..). And no way would he let some apostate whom he can't trust as as far as she can be thrown with some "Old God" baby. So it was curtains for him.

Luckily I keep many saves at different points in the story though :P

You will notice that there is a post game save.

To all intents and purposes any DLC will take place before the final battle at Denerim.

it tells you in the dlc add where you need to go back to pick it up. You can use the same character but way back at a save from Lothering.

And it does say that we have not heard the last from your character in Ferelden. But that is another story for another time.

There are four possible outcomes of the final battle. All of them involve the removal of a major player in BW's story. The game is all about their story (not your story -- you're only a character in their story).

Maybe next time, they'll open up the sandbox to keep doing stuff like trade, building stuff, completing quests, manipulating influences, but this time, the game ends soon after the final battle, like most typical non-serial novels would.

I don't understand why there continues to be a call for this. Besides Bethesda games, I don't think I've ever played an RPG where you could keep playing after you won the game.
