I cannot tell if it is fake or not, so I'll take it as fake by default. If it is true, however, it makes sense. Not every writer would have been behind this ending.

To be fair, I'm kinda thinking it's fake too. For example, the poster claims to be a writer, and claims that there were no differences in the endings - ie the engine didn't check your score and give you a differen't cutscene... but that's simply not the case.

You can go to Youtube to prove it. There are endings where the Earth is destroyed and you don't actually see your crew get off the Normandy on Jungle Planet. That pretty much counters what this guy says. If he was a writer, he'd know it.

Seems to me to be a very well done fake.

I actually went to the forum in question, and started digging. I don't see that he sounds disgruntled in any way. He is also very vague (understandable). Much that I read are along the lines of 'this game contains space ships" ... well, yeah.. So, to me it looks like he could have gotten faceraped by someone. Then finding out and deleted the offending posts. I also noted certain differences in writing style (compared with his other posts), so I don't think he wrote it. Looks like someone else did it (I won't go into what differences I noticed). ..

This sort of thing happens a lot on facebook, so I am not surprised. Maybe a disgruntled hacker with way too much time on his or her hands?

Personally I don't see this particular thread going anywhere constructive. Maybe the best thing would be if OP asked Chris (or other moderators) to simply close this thread. I see this thread as harmful for one of BioWares writers, and that is not very helpful.

I can barely tell the difference. The cutscene that shows what all those EMS points went towards is over in a couple of seconds.

Unfortunately I'm inclined to think that it's most likely true=(. Well, really, it's the most logical explanation while the team were able to produce such a subpar ending comparing to the rest of the game.
Besides, EA offers full refund now; why would they do it if they didn't know that the mistake was on their side, because of the breaking of the rules of the standart development process. Like, you know, someone would decide to write a certain part of the script and ship it without allowing the other team members to review it...
And if, hipotetically, if something like that really happened in the big game development company, I couln't help but be very sad and at the same time feel some kind of sadistic joy imagining how the certain person(s) responsible for the ending would feel when they suddenly found out that their "artistic vision", which they tried to cram into the throats of thousands of customers, is not so artistic, and that they actually ruined reputation of the rest of the team and the company itself, just because they were too proud or not competent enough? I don't know...
Oh, all of that, of course, is only speculation... >.>

No offense, but if we can't trust the advertisement that BioWare says for their own products and they illegally misadvertise and release products advertised as something other than what it is... how can we trust anything anyone says from them?

Maybe so. I honestly wanted to give Chris the benefit of the doubt. But if others want to believe he's wrong, that's fine. People can look at the information out there and decide for themselves.
