I've heard from numerous people that post on Penny Arcade forums that a writer does in fact post on there, and has for a while now. Has always shared insider stuff about the games he works on with the forum.
Sooooo
This doesn't mean what is being posted here came from it. But if people are saying he posted that and they saved it because he normally deletes his posts, makes you think. Point is, it seems to be known that a writer from Mass Effect posts on that forum (and has for a while).
If the post is true you do realise that posting that here can land that person in really hot water?

Yeah dont get Pat fired please. He's probably the best writer BioWare have.
This^
After re-reading it several times I highly doubt it is real.
I mean no one would shoot themselves in the foot like that would they?
Depends on what happened at the office in the past couple of days. My be guess is if this is real - Somebody started throwing people under the bus to cover their ass. So, if he on his way out the door because of this whole fiasco.. why should he care... thats if this real.
And trust people are going to let go because of this, just not immediately.

Yeah but think about it, not having any other writer look at it is a good way for all those plot hoes to slip in, even if this is fake there is a good chance that's the best explianation for it.tobito113 wrote...

I remember seeing in a tweet by ME3 that the ending was done by casey and the lead writer Mac. That they were proud of what they done.
Now wheather that is true or not I can't say for sure but I would assume some in bio feel like that as some of the story up they ending describes what the weapon does and it doesn't mention magical beam of light
I have no doubt that they made the endings, they ARE the lead writters after all. But it dosent follow that this thing is real, anyone can asume the ones responsible for the last part of the story are the lead writters and the main director...
I dont believe this, its like the indoc theory. It makes sense but i really doubt any employee would do this, and it sounds like conspiracy theory.
The simple fact that it came from Reddit is enough evidence to dismiss it imo (remember what they dd to hepler, making very convincing fake quotes about her to start a crusade on her twitter)

However, it does speak about the dangers of secluding something from outside influence. If it's really true that only one or two people handled the very last minutes, and not even their colleagues were allowed to have a say, it would help explain the clear disconnect. There is value in having somebody else look at your work, regardless of what it is, and offer their input.

Good point, guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens then.

Interesting read. No way to verify if its from a real writer or not though.
Yup. Would explain the stark difference between the rest of the game and the ending. On the other hand, saying something like this public could potentialy cost you your job?
Who knows?

My hope is that if it's real, Casey gets in hot water for overriding his other writers and being the one to blame for that awful ending.
If this is true, how is this fair to the other writers that put so much time and effort into the game?

Interesting to say the least, but I don't think its real. Someone from the writing staff saying something like that now would be career-suicide. I would more readily accept it if this statement came out a couple of years down the line, when this debacle is more settled, one way or the other.
I'm not quite sure it would be career suicide. There are plenty of other video game companies out there that would gladly hire a skilled, experienced writer.
Actually they would not. Because if he can bad mouth his colleagues in Bioware (though it is fake to begin with) then noone would trust him to not to do the same to them. The one you qouted is spot on.

But it's not how contracts work.
They all have to sign a non disclosure agreement, afaik. So posting this CAN cost him his job.
Doesn't matter that he has a point

And I can imagine that IF this was true, the other writers are probably pissed off to hell about Mac Walters and Casey Hudson messing up like that. Especially if everyone needed to peer review their stuff, and the two of them just sit there together giggling about "D00D LETZ DO IT LIEK TEH MATRIX LOTS OF SPECULASJUN FOR EVRBODY!"

No no no, I'm not saying that the statement is fact, but that if it was somehow correct anyway with the whole ending being the product of just two guys instead of the whole team, I wouldn't be shocked. that's all.

As other people have pointed out, the content of the quote does certainly fit the observed facts. It is difficult to imagine the ending in its current form having survived a peer review process of any sort.

If it was real of which I am sure it is not, then he got himself fired by putting such statements out in the public domain with no regard to his coworkers or the business that pays his wage.

I have no opinion about the legitimacy of the quote, but if everything speculated is true I wouldn't worry too much. The writer who brought Tali and Mordin to life should be able to get a job anywhere--the work speaks for itself.
Thats not true, no matter how good someone is at their job, if they cannot be trusted noone will work with them. Thats just how life and business works.

He put's his name on his posts. That would single him out better LOL. Anyway, if it's real he obviously isn't working for BW anymore (or doesn't want to).
