Whats the point of your fuming for not recieveing a desired outcome whne you're roleplaying an insance character. the Devs can only accomodate so many outcomes, and in the crazy ones are not at the top of their list.

The mariage with Anora is a one of political conveience that you talk him into. He still wants to be with you. How is that possibly racist?

So I made a human noble, romanced him again, romanced zevran, DUMPED AListair, slept with Zev, did the deed with him like 80 times in one night, right next to Alistair! (secretly hoping his disapproval went down with every roll in the hay). Then I went to Denerim, recruited Loghain, made Anora queen, gave the finger to Alistair as he threw his tantrum and ran off, giggled in delight while I ran off with Zevran to live happily ever after.

Interesting debate, but access to the monarchy has always been curtailed in every culture. Here in the UK, for example, we have the Act of Settlement (still in force) preventing a Catholic from ascending to the throne on the continent they had the Salic laws that prevented women and the descendants of women attaining the crown.

I have a tough time accepting that I can't sacrifice myself because Alistair loves me.  A tough time.  Several replays through of very tough time.  Come to find out my husband wouldn't let me do it either, that just brings up all sorta questions about the nature of love and what you can and cannot do when people are that much in love.  I'm sorta stuck on why I can't die just 'cause I'm a girl.  All the men find it manly to not let his woman fall in battle and I find it womanly to not let my man fall in battle, particulary if Anora's the one who lives after that and I want to scratch her obnoxious eyes out.

Yeah, you can just leave him at the gates, problem solved.  Sucked not having my best tank in the party though, and no Morrigan for CC.  Yargh.

On my first playthrough I suspected a breakup might be coming the very second Alistair confessed he was royalty. My character was an elf, a mage, a blood mage even, and told she was infertile and going to die in 30 years, living in an angsty world fraught with ominous Wynne foreshadowing.

But nooooo...Alistair was all like, "Sorry I didn't tell you I was royalty before giving you this rose and having sex with you. Also, I'm very sorry that I made you break up with Zevran and Leliana. Lastly, although it is highly unlikely we're going to survive this ultimate battle against a demon, I'm still going to have to dump your ass now, because I might not have the chance to dump you later should one of us sacrifice our life to the archdemon. P.S. Thanks for this shield."

Anora is a horrible queen.

Toughened Alistair is a decent king.

For Ferelden, after seeing multiple endings and epilogues, I can't tolerate drunken bad-king Alistair and I can't tolerate Anora trashing the Alienage and I can't tolerate Morrigan.

So at least for me, yeah, it is inevitable.  You can compromise, and Lord knows I have.  But it's not...satisfying.

My ideal ending is Alistair a good king, me dead.  It's just that so far he hasn't let me, so I have to leave him at the gates next time.

Yup.  The "utlimate good" ending with the best "Okay, I'm dead now anyway and let's see how everyone benefits..." belongs to me being dead.

I intended to end it that way about three times in a row, But Alistair will not allow it.  So he's going to have to stay at the kids' table next time.  No carving the turkey for papa.

This must be specific to being female/having romanced him.  On my play through he offered to take the killing blow but I just told him to go be king, I had a dragon to kill.

Yeah, Alistair is better as a blood-brother then a significant other it seems, my Dalish elf warrior told him Ferelden needed him as king or something similar and took the death blow (never thought he'd find another blood-bro to replace Tamlen (sp?) and certianly not a human but there you go).

Though to be fair he (my character) was grief-stricken over Morrigan leaving him at Redcliffe so death seemed like a good alternative, as a Dalish elf he just couldn't get behind bringing back one of the 'Old Gods' who's worshippers (Tenvinter Imperium) who had destoryed the ancient elven homeland, enslaved us and taken our immortality etc. And he kinda hopped it would allow Morrigan to begin thinking for herself instead of just following Mommy's wishes (darn mothers-in-law, always interfering), she still never came to my funeral, how could you Morrgian!! -- ah, ahem, yeah, back to Alistair, darn fool right?

Yes, it is specific to female romance being active and at 100 with both on the roof.  I mostly came to this site to make sure I wasn't going to continue to bang myself against the "save Alistair's life" wall I'd been trying to scale.  After several tries, three in fact, of varying cunning and hardening and suchlike, it's not possible to end up the game with Alistair in love with you and willingly letting you take the final blow.  At least I haven't heard another person say they could do it.

As my favorite playthrough style is "good" and "noble" and "romance with Alistair" I have to develop a strategy that lets me get a martyr's ending without spending another game hoping the magical "Oh, you're right, you go" option pops up somewhere.
