In one of the cash cow apps, one of the designers is quoted saying that an end boss would've been too videogamesy. An interesting statement. That makes you wonder though. The Reapers consider us ants, a bit like how the West considers terrorists; backward and unable to do anything substantial to thwart our 'truth' (quotes added for the postmodernists, yeah, I'm considerate). So they add a portal right into the thing that can hurt them. It's like building the next American embassy in a Taliban controlled area. I mean, if all, don't the Reapers just consider this a game? Especially considering how the Catalyst says: The Reapers are my solution for order, but hey, you made it, so I'm going to roll over and give you three doors for the priiiiize - choose! Heavy risk for the Catalyst. So the Catalyst, having Reapers slaughter unfathomable numbers of cycles (which would require some resolve, no?), all of a sudden turns into childzilla and plays quizmaster. And no one thought that would be videogamesy?
