Can you play the DLC after you've completed the story just got the the exiled prince but I cant seem to leave hawks estate?

No, you can't - at least not with that one. You can play Legacy and Mark of the Assassin after you have completed the story, but Exiled Prince is a different kind of DLC - Exiled Prince introduces a new character in Act 1 who provides corresponding quests and can actually join your party during the game. This is why you can't access it at the end of the game - since the DLC is directly tied to the events that occur during the game.
