A small survey regarding ME3 and the endings.

91.5% did not like the ending.
0.94% have not played multiple playthroughs (only 1 out of 106)
96.2% played Mass Effect first.
And the critical one:
Of those who did like the ending, 100% have been playing since Mass Effect.
I've only had 9 people respond so far saying that they did like the endings, but so far the evidence seems to be that there is no relation between how long people have been involved in the Mass Effect universe and whether or not they liked the endings.
Interesting stuff, feel free to continue responding and we'll see if there's any other interesting data we can come up with.

Hope that helps.
A summary of results would be cool. But it would probably be a lot of work, so I'm not volunteering.

I still think the fiirst one was the most interesting, had the best endings, best implementation of the Paragon/Renegade duality, and the series might as well have ended there, but that´s just me.

So I've been wondering lately if there's any reasons we can explain why some people liked the endings more than others.
Probably because they actually DID like the endings. I'm having a hard time as it is explaining why people hate the endings, but I avoid generalizing to try to excuse or belittle other people's opinions if I were you. I think you get my point: don't generalize.
But for your sake, I'll bite.
Did you like the Mass Effect 3 endings?
YES
Which was your first Mass Effect game?
Mass Effect
Have you completed multiple playthroughs of any Mass Effect game?
Yes
Have you read any of the Mass Effect novels or comics?
Yes (all of them)
Perhaps people who joined the series later and haven't completed multiple playthroughs are more likely to like the ending of Mass Effect 3? Maybe people who have read the comics and/or novels as well as playing the games are more likely to dislike the endings?
That still doesn't prove anything. You can find an association between the variables, but it's not necessarily a causative factor. Some people will hate the endings IN SPITE OF not being delved into the series, for example.
EDIT: For clarification, this is on the back of a comment I made on one of the Forbes articles where I suggested that perhaps the reason that most "mainstream" game reviewers were happy with the endings is that they had less invested in the series than fans (maybe this is just another game they had to play for work?). I wanted to see if this sentiment could be correlated from players in general.
Regardless of the results, it does NOT de-legitimize the opinions of those who LOVE the endings, and vice-versa.
