When will The Stone Prisoner DLC take place in the game?

I recently got my hands on DA: Origin which came with Mass Effect 3. I am currently waiting on the free DLC serial key - The Stone Prisoner.
I wanted to know when does this DLC take place in the game? This is my first time playing the game so please NO massive spoilers.
Can I start the game without the DLC and add it later in the game?

After Lothering, the first town you enter, all DLC content that does not require a previous playthrough will become available in game.
You can add the DLC later, but not prior to end game sequence. (you really want to do it asap)
