In 1986, Johnson and Johnson suffered one of the greatest threats to its existence - the Tylenol poisonings. They offered to replace every bottle of Tylenol pills in the country with Tylenol tablets. FOR FREE. And guess what? In the years following the poisonings, sales of Tylenol soared. Anti-tampering packaging became the norm.

It is win-win. In the long run.

I severly hope you see the difference here.

You ever reduce a fraction in school?   1/2 is the same as 5/10 etc?

Well
it's sort of like that. The principal is the same, but the actual
reality is that untold numbers of people have not been poisoned by a
supposedly harmless drug!

It's the same thing. Customers offered their concerns. Company tosses out a carrot. Customer loves company again.

It can happen here, with free DLC.

You forgot: Vote now and BE POLITE. (no not you, Politeassasin, we know you already are)

Maybe you should point out that the choices also relate to the epilogue? Like, how things will work out for the Krogans, if you cured them.
Just to make it clearer.

Free DLC is not feasible. I am willing to pay, but this will be the last time I will accept the game's ending being in DLC format, it should not be a litmus test for allowing it to happen twice.

There is a difference between delivering additional content, and holding required content ransom.

I don't have a problem with paying for an ending, but after the recent statements I have little hope that we will get some satisfying results.

The sad part is the game is 100% fine (a little short for perfect tbh) until the beam of light and platform take you to where the ****storm hit the mass relay.

If we want a new ending it should come as a DLC, as an alternate expanded turn of events, I'm not sure if it should be free as it's additional material.

I will hold the line until they acknowledge their mistake by satisfactorily addressing it. How they choose to do so and what they need to ask for it is entirely up to them.

I will not purchase any ME3 DLC nor play ME3 until this issue is resolved.

I no longer support the Mass Effect franchise.

I am no longer a loyal BioWare customer outside my one home team.

If I could I would destroy the Hold the Line movement as it has been taken way to far. IT IS A GAME AND NOT REAL LIFE PEOPLE. GET OVER IT.

I'm willing to bend if they are. And the more they bend, the wider I'll open my wallet. I have no need to make a statement or take a stand. I want a satisfying conclusion to the Mass Effect experience and I refuse to be unreasonable about it.

I understand the logic behind it being free. Your expectation on the original product wasn't met and now you have to pay extra to fix the original product. Unfortunately, the business decision is that revenue is needed to recoup the expense of a creating different or expanded ending. It'd be different if the product had a defect, but it's not really a defect.

If they just tack on an epilogue and fill in some plot holes, maybe that's free. If you want a expanded/different ending with all new voice acting, new writing, new development, etc. I just don't think it's feasible for that to be free. I could see them just trying to just break even to gain back customer approval, but I don't see EA/Bioware being willing to not recoup any costs.

People say "I won't ever buy a Bioware game again if it's not free." Okay, maybe Bioware is risking losing customers. Assuming you hold true to that on the principle that it's free and it's a big enough market share, EA will have Bioware's future games would target another audience. An audience that isn't mad and doesn't care if you are mad.

Don't assume people have put their lives on hold. People take up pet causes all the time. They also find a way to do it that doesn't disprupt their lives.

If they do charge us, I'll blame the EA side of the company. The poor devs are usually the victims of their evils.

I agree with your standpoint, but it's not very convincing. EA is in it for themselves, give a solid reason why they should do this.

Sadly they are not even planning on releasing a fix for the game. The latest PR announcement indicated that they will release "additional content" to provide "answers and closure". Which means no new endings, no fixes for the utter lack of continuity from previous games, etc.

The solid reason is lost revenue - both through returns of ME3 (which appear to be accelerating) and through loss of future revenue due to a breach of good faith between Bioware and their customers.

THREADS LIKE THIS MAKE THE MOVEMENT LOOK BAD.

If the people up top who make the decisions actually get convinced that people will NOT buy the DLC, THEN THEY WON'T MAKE IT.

PERIOD.

Not to mention that at least Microsoft normally forces companies to charge SOMETHING for DLC. (Valve tries to fight this tooth and nail but still looses.)

Last comment: If you guys ACTUALLY WANT this DLC, then continue your discussion in another thread and let this die, or change the name of this thread to something LESS entitling.  The biggest complaint people have about the movement is that we're a bunch of entitled whiners, which is exactly the tone of the title of this thread.

If BioWare is going to patch the ending, there is no way I am going to pay for it. It should be offered for free as a gesture of goodwill to all of us who have bought the game.

Plus, if BioWare hadn't rushed the game, then this "better ending" would have been included with the game from the getgo. Which is why we should continue to hold the line until it is announced that everyone gets this modified ending FOR FREE.

Until then, please keep holding the line. We can do this. Today's announcement was a step in the right direction. But charging people $15 for a modified ending that SHOULD HAVE BEEN IN THE GAME IN THE FIRST PLACE is something most of us should not stand for!

And the ending DLC better be substantial, to make up for the mistake. And developed for free.

HOLD THE LINE!

CAPS MAKES IT IMPORTANT!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't want a clarified ending for free. I'd much rather pay 10-20 bucks for a fantastic one...preferably one with no starchild.
