You missed the deaths of all those planets, including Earth, that died as a direct result of the mass relays exploding and sending a super nova's worth of energy through the system. Remember the Arrival DLC? Yeah, Shepard did it again all across the galaxy as a tool of the Reapers.
Let me get this straight...

Well I would like a better ending.

I don't think the mass relays killed everything, because it was a "different kind of explosion".
Still though, the ending completely screws over everything in the mass effect universe, and now the idiots that run the show and Bioware are scrambling to make a most likely half-assed DLC to explain their "artistic integrity".

Also, apparently "nobody starves." However, without using space magic, I don't exactly know how BW will pull that one off. Depending on certain choices, Mass Relays can be rebuilt, apparently. So, I suppose this could happen before everyone starves, I dunno. I still think it smacks of denial, and not a "unified vision" of the endings.
I keep remembering Mac Walters' script from the Final Hours app. "Dark Ages" for the universe isn't exactly an uplifting or satisfying ending, and the repurcussions of any Dark Age would undermine a lot of the sacrifices made to get to that point.
"Well, life is hard, and fate sucks." I didn't spend 200+ hours over 5 years to hear that from escapist entertainment. If I wanted to come face to face with how useless it is to fight against the tide, I'd go swim the Atlantic until I hit London (where the Reapers would eat me...oh wait..."save me from synthetics").

Also, (I haven't seen this written anywhere yet) you're having a bloody massive battle in space before activating the catalyst. Lots of them are destroyed, Reapers, ships and Dreadnaughts. Are they not crashing into the Earth? So Earth is basically completely screwed.
You went to take Earth back and royally F**ked it up.
Yay.
