Great article. I wish I could express myself half as well as most of the people on these forums. I will be steering clear of purchasing anything bioware related until there is a new dlc that fixes the problems that we all have with it now, including the endings and loading problems. Which I don't think we should have to pay for at this point, with all the lies and belittling of the "most passionate fans".

theyll just say thats their opinion about the game and tha opinions are subjective. Even tho thats kinda crap.

From dictionary.com...

[ad-ver-tahy-zing] noun
the act or practice of calling public attention to one's product, service, need, etc., especially by paid announcements in newspapers and magazines, over radio or television, on billboards, etc.: to get more customers by advertising.

Even if they didn't pay to have their quotes published, they still are defined as advertising by the first part of the definition.  So no matter what, it is still false advertising.

It pains me to re-read all those promises and once again realize that we've got what we've got in the end. Yes, the matter of trust is as important as ever.

Completely agree with OP. This is why I bother complaining about the ending, because they promised things they didn't deliver.

If they hadn't, I would've shut up.

That's a great write up you've got there, thanks for posting it.

As a dedicated fan of the series I feel that the endings provided to us are atrociously bad and a direct insult to the fans. I have personally paid over four hundred NZ dollars (even I find that figure hard to believe) to complete this trilogy so I will not apologise for feeling entitled to get what I paid for and to get what was promised to me.

It's not over till the fat lady sings....and I don't hear any singing.

Seriously, guys they haven't said anything definitive, and I want this. I want what I was promised.

Hold the line, for as long as it takes.

I really hoped that those promises would be fulfilled, we can't let it slide. The whole game is AWESOME and you really see the effects of your previous decisions, but everything after the reaper beam is garbage.

Well said and thank you for posting all these quotes in one place.
In a constructive manner, I can only say I agree with you wholeheartedly and that this is one of my main issues with the ending. (read: NOT that I don't get a puppy dog and sunshine happy ending)

I would genuinely like them to adress this. I mean, you can't really deny that what they said was not what they gave us. Sure, you can work the interpretation of a few statements, but all of them? No way.

Imagine how much less hate there would have been if Casey Hudson and Mac Walters hadn't said any of this.

Will Casey Hudson go down as the next Peter Molyneux?

Looking in retrospective, it's quite a list. Specially concerning the Rachni and the fact that Mr. Hudson said explicitly we were not going to have a deus Ex ending right there.

I was thinking that too. I think his "advertising credibility" is completely shot.

Off topic - I'm not 100% sure Gamble used "bespoke" correctly in his article.

I was honestly kinda concerned about the game from the moment I got on Mars. The fact that we were only 30 minutes into the game and they already had a deus ex machina was disconcerting.

I think this one gets to me the most:
“We have a rule in our franchise that there is no canon. You as a player decide what your story is.”

They are trying to hide behind artistic integrity, yet Casey himself says there is no canon and we choose our own story? There's no integrity in that whatsoever. It's completely open-ended. The only integrity they lost is when they started breaking promises and giving us the exact opposite of what they led us to expect. The ending is destroyed their integrity. Why can't people see that?

He didn't.  When something is "bespoke" it is custom made to fit an individual customer's specifications, like a tailored suit.  The way he uses it is the opposite, like a one-size-fits-all pair of granny panties.

Unless he means it would be like having a tailored suit made for one person and trying to force it on everyone.  That's probably the case, now that I think about it.

At least Peter Molyneux stops making outrageous claims about his products in the weeks up to release, when he knows without a doubt the promised features are not going to be in the game. It is very unfortunate that we can't say the same about Bioware.
