Bumping to hold the line!!! It's hard not to feel cheated by the endings, it was building up to an epic climax but puttered out like a bouncy castle with a hole in =( Not just the ending mind, the whole thing... what we were promised.

Just seeing Bioware acknowledge this and respond in a bit more detail would be a start, be nice to actually see them noticing the fanbase...

Almost as much as I want the ending to the game I bought, I want Bioware to respond to each of these claims they made.

By the power of...r/MassEffect, I BUMP THEE.

No, but seriously, great collection of data, hope we get some answers on this AND the Tali's face debacle.

I loled.

Hope they deal with a majority of the LI's.  Although I think the Tali thing was extremely lazy.

Bump to keep this post alive. Much of the game was great, but Bioware really needs to address these issues to restore fan faith in their company. None of the grand promises they made have been fulfilled in the ending as it stands.

This is so true and I absolutely agree OP. THey need to either come out and say they lied or they need to fix the game.

“There is a huge set of consequences that start stacking up as you approach the end-game. And even in terms of the ending itself, it continues to break down to some very large decisions. So it's not like a classic game ending where everything is linear and you make a choice between a few things - it really does layer in many, many different choices, up to the final moments, where it's going to be different for everyone who plays it.”

Man, each time I read that quote I die a little inside. In the end it /is/ like a classic game ending. It's like Deus Ex, down to the 'flavor' choices you have to make.

Sadly, we're just not going to get anything beyond a token DLC. They can't live up to all the pre-release promises now because they'd have to totally rebuild the game. Obviously, they can't do that.

for those who are interested, my favorite quote has been scrubbed from the official me3 website. "This will result in a story that diverges into wildly different conclusions based on the player’s actions in the first two chapters" an internet search shows that that is where it should be, but the actual page has now been removed. the following is the image from bing:

This will result in a story that diverges into wildly different conclusions based on the player’s actions in the first two chapters.[6] The story between Mass Effect 2 ...officialmasseffect3.com/?p=17

fortunately, there are enough gamer rags, including gamefaqs that qoute this that you know Casey Hudson actually said it, although Gamefaqs is trying to play it off as a p.r. mistatement.

otherwise, love the OP. thank you.

The disparity between their previous comments and the finished product is hard to understand.

The only way I can rationalise it is some kind of silver lining waiting for us with the next BioWare announcement.

The quote that gets me the most is the one that states there won't be "A, B, or C" endings. That, more than any other, is an explicit falsehood, because A, B, or C is exactly what we've been given. It's astounding, really.

actually that is the only thing they did NOT lie about. The endings are to similar to classify each one with a different letter. We didn't get A, B and C....we got A1, A2 and A3     sadly

BioWare will not do a "Lost" and leave fans with more questions than
answers after finishing the game, Gamble promised.

Think that's my favorite broken promise there.

Hi Bioware,

For my feedback to the ending and how it can be improved I would like to say that my views are the same as the original post on this discussion. Press statements have said that EA/Bioware would like us to tell them our thoughts on how to improve the ending. Please let us know what lines of communication you would like us to use (if email please let us know the email address you would like us to use).

This information would be appreciated.

To everyone else:

Keep it civil and state clearly what you think is wrong with the released product and make it clear to EA/Bioware what you would like changed.

Remember- HOLD THE LINE

actually, for the next game we should all promise Bioware that we will pre-order it....and we do it.....but then on the last day we ALL cancel our pre orders...and don't buy the game at all

You wanted feedback Dr. Ray, well here it is.

Leading up to the release of ME3, I read most--if not all--of these articles. So, yes, I was bitterly disappointed when I found out none of my choices mattered in the end. The only thing that made a negligible difference was the EMS score, which could be artificially inflated through several nonessential methods (such as fetch quests and multiplayer).

Bad writing, plot holes, and poor-execution aside, false advertisement quite aptly describes the ending.

Loved the qoute about Lost. LOL. Lost's ending made more sense than Mass Effects ending and Lost ending was pretty confusing.

Per your feedback, I added the last quote regarding space magic.  I also added the definition of advertising since a few people have trolled about it.

Wohoo! Thanks :D

It sickens me to read this, and see just how many of the interviews were outright lies.

EDIT - It would be nice to see Frobes do an article on this kind of topic. Outright lies to the consumer... how it's bad for business.

What I don't understand is if Bioware always had in mind an ambiguous ending, with "lots of speculation for everyone," as they claim, why make all these promises and proclamations in the first place? What were they thinking? Furthermore, I'd be interested to know when the OP's quoted statements were made versus when Mac Walters (et al) decided they wanted to give us the RGB-Star Child finale. Is there any possible way to square these apparently disparate intentions? Is it possible the original quotes are so old as to predate work on the present conclusion by a wide margin? I do wonder...
