Collector SWARMS. AKA the swarms of insect-like things that were used to paralyse the colonists on Freedoms Progress, Horizon, and countless other colonies. Not the Collectors themselves.Ealos wrote...
To all those claiming that the Collectors do not exist anymore, may I point you to the codex entry Reaper Wars: The Miracle at Palaven. Collectors are officially present, so they do still exist in some form.
I was assuming that that was simply the collective noun for Collectors, since the probes were generally refered to as Seeker swarms in ME2. Also, even if they're only the seekers, I see no reason why they'd have survived whilst the Collectors themselves died.

Who cares if they don't exist anymore. They would still be fun to play against.
I concur.
This is what I think of Mass Effect story (I do like the setting, however.)
got ME3 for Multiplayer because Demo was a blast to play.
Seriously, back in the days CD-ROM emerged is where cinematic/story telling forged into gaming and nearly died. I play my games for fun, for gameplay.
Games = Gameplay
Movies = Story
Call me a retard, I don't care

And the only ship of theirs that was known about was the cruiser destroyed by the Normandy at the start of the suicide mission?
This point is contradicted by James' background- remember, his team destroyed a Collector vessel during an attack on a colony. He mentions this during his visit to Shepard's cabin, as I recall.

Neither do the Reapers. Or Cerberus. Or Geth "heretics".

Don't forget that the vast, vast majority of these H3 games are 50 kills per game, so it's closer to 20 billion dead.coinop25 wrote...

Neither should humanity, after the number of Cerberus troops we've killed. I mean, think about it: If we killed 3 million Brutes in one weekend, how many human Cerberus troops have we killed since launch? We will definitely pass the entire galactic human population eventually at this rate.
Trillions!?!?!?!?!?
Frantically searching online for how many humans have been killed in multiplayer over entire run of Halo 3…
EDIT: According to Bungie.net, there have been over 1.9 billion Halo 3 multiplayer games played. I guess I overestimated. Please resume with extinguishing Cerberus.
As far as exterminating humanity in ME3 goes, we only have a couple dozen colonies, a petty few of which prolly even approach 1 billion.
WE CAN DO IT.

e.g. we get an Omega SP mission, and an Omega MP map, and maybe a new class: "Batarian merc" or something less rubbish.
So if we have the collectors, they will have to come back as enemies in SP. Which is unlikely to happen imho. Would nullify the accomplishments of ME2.

If Bioware wants it, they will find a way to squeeze it into the lore. Look at Javik, Prothean who conveniently survived 50,000 years in a stasis pod. I'll bet if Bioware wanted to, they could add other smaller collector bases into the storyline.

No buying new maps/enemies
It fractures the community. It is literally the dumbest move any MP game can make.
Agreed.
New races, guns, etc? Fine. However the maps should also be accessible to all players, otherwise there simply won't be as many people playing them.

If your honestly whining about having to pay for maps because it will alienate the MP community since it's not big enough...well...your in a world of hurt because majority of players will indeed pay for new enemy types and maps because that freshens up the "experience" and gameplay.
And introducing Collectors will not be difficult. Just say there's a small pocket of them that existed and are out to kill Javik in SP and then use that logic to bring them to MP as an enemy type...walla.
Gameplay trumps plotholes in terms of MP fun.

Not sure if this has been mentioned before but I think the following enemies could be added to multiplayer:
These enemies I know have little/no tie in with ME3's story (and you can ally with the merc groups)but it would be insanely fun to play against them. Maybe fighting these dont give you War %
Collectors: Drone, Assasin, Scion, Praetorian, General (controls seeker swarm)
http://masseffect.wi...wiki/Collectors
Blue Suns: Trooper, Legionaire, Pyro, Commander, Engineer
http://masseffect.wi.../wiki/Blue_Suns
Blood Pack: Vorcha Trooper, Warrior Krogan, Pyro, Boom-Squad
http://masseffect.wi...wiki/Blood_pack
Eclipe: Engineer, Commando, Vanguard, LOKI and YMIR Mechs

We could have the basic loki, fenris and ymir mechs, and maybe some new ones like a mech with a shotgun.
Also I demand assuming direct control for collector enemies.

I absolutely love the idea of Collectors being an opponent in MP. It would be a nice addition to the game and it would be fun to find out which classes and weapons and equipment works best against them.
Agreed. That's another reason why bringing new enemy types in will freshen the experience.

I don't think Blue Suns, Blood Pack, and Eclipse enemies will work UNLESS you combine them as one enemy type...maybe like a "mercenary" enemy type that's out to kill Shepard for some unknown reason before Aria's Omega take back.
Collector's is a no brainer though since you have all sorts of enemies from in your face drones, annoying scions that make you need to roll, and the "bid baddy" as the praetorian and the "phantom" equivalent as Harbinger.

Still the possibility of Collectors, Mercenaries, Mechs and so on have been discussed again and again. No doubt in my mind that in time it will come true. Personally, I think the MP was kept a little sparse to ensure that money could be made with DLC.

lol we could apply that logic and have players play as Cerberus to fight Cerberus.
I call dibs on playing as an Atlas Mech
