Just finished a playthrough of ME1 and ME2 being very satisfied with my for once customized Shepard, but importing her into ME3 I discover a really odd looking character. Is this broken, or is it just a "feature" that you can't import your character face from earlier games?

If you were told that there's an error involved in your Shep's importation, then it's not yours. There's a process lurking around here that tells you how to restore your ME1 face. It will still be different, but ultimately yours.

Fiddling around I think the changes mainly are to hair and brow colors and eye colors. Especially the last since my ME1 character had fantastic purple eyes, which somehow carried over into my ME2 game even though it's not part of normal character creation there.
Maybe I'll just make do with the one from Bioware. Looks awesome apart from the nose - in Mass Effect 4 or what comes next, they really should use a real facemodel like they did for male shepard :-)
