I still have the problem on 360, both for male and female Shepard, both characters from ME1. The game just assumes everything's allright, but the face is just the first customizable default face but with random hair color.

I downloaded the patch this morning and have tried several times restarting the game and console :/

Dear Bioware,
Downloaded the patch. Didn't do a damn thing, Shep's face is still the default non-canon customizable FemShep face. However, with the recent news that you're all very happy turning everyone's Shepards into purveyors of mass genocide and keeping it that way, I'd really rather cling to the idea that my Shepard simply never took part in any such activities. So I'm perfectly content with you not fixing the problem. Thanks!

Importing a Shepard from ME1 to ME2 worked, but visiting the customization screen, even without changing anything, attached a false face code to the career and every save file produced in it.
(This bug has been known for a while. But not everyone who bought the game checked the forums for bug reports, so don't you dare blame the players for "doing it wrong".)

This false face codes results in people STILL getting the wrong faces after installing the patch.

This particular problem can be solved for PC users by using a fan-made save editor to delete the wrong code. However, console players have trouble doing that and have pointed out that even if they managed to do it, using any kind of save edit is against the TOS of the console manufacturer. Besides, they shouldn't have to revert to illegal methods to make an official patch do what it's supposed to do.

This is a profound technical issue, not some subjective view on what is or is not an "exact match".

I got the update this morning but it still doesn't import my ME1 and ME2 face. I'm assuming I'm not the only one with this problem.

What occurs when you attempt to import your character appearance?

It says it imported the face but it's the same generic face that shows up regardless if I've played the first two or not.

Does your Mass Effect 2 Shepard have a face code?  If so, you may need to delete the face code, using the Gibbed save editor, for the new import routine to attempt to recreate your Shepard's appearance.  The game will always attempt to import an existing face code first; it will only use the new approximation routine if no face code is present.

I'm sorry, what is a "Gibbed save editor"? I'm on Xbox if that helps... I am right now replaying ME2 in search of face code.

Thank you so much for your help, by the by.

Gibbed's save editor is found at http://social.biowar...m/project/4373/

Instructions for extracting and re-importing save files from the XBox 360 version of the game may be adapted from
http://www.gamefaqs....fect-3/62162976

Do NOT follow the full procedure.  The procedure listed is an attempt to fix a different problem.  Follow steps 1 through 11 to extract your save file from your console.  Make backup copies of ALL extracted save files before making any modifications.  Use the Gibbed editor to remove the face code from your save file.  Follow steps 16 through 21 to restore the save file to your console.

I will try this. Thank you so much!

So I did all this. I am having trouble finding the face code in the Gibbed's save editor.

Why is this so difficult? I thought this is what the patch was for. I should just be able to start a game in ME3 and have my character there. I mean, come on.

I just got the patch and now I simply cannot play the game period. It freezes up every time it tries to connect to EA servers.

Same, you just made the game unplayable Bioware, see the several hundred other threads that have sprung up in the last few hours that you dont appear to have noticed ...

well I was finally able to get into the game after 15 restarts (forthe ea server bug) when I went to import my character to see if the patch corrected the issue my custom male shepard, it still looks wrong his hair style is not correct and his eyes don't look right. Its safe to assume certain facial options such as the crew cut with spikey hair and the 3rd eye choice from mass effect 1&2 are just not in the options period.

Got the patch and besides a few small touch ups to correct such as the eyebrow color it imported pretty well. Thank you bioware for fixing this problem.

Yeah, finally I'm up playing with my shepard, not some rehashed shep. The face editor only missed on the hair, but it is easily fixable, so for me, it worked at last. The only thing that bothers me is to wait a whole month to play a game that I bought launch day...but oh well...at least I'm going to play.

So, after having played through the game multiple times with someone who bore an uncanny resemblance to my actual shepard, I downloaded the patch, eager to finally play with MY shepard. Thus I downloaded the patch and deleted all my pseudo-shepard profiles from ME3.

You can imagine my dissapointment then when I went to import him in from the exact same ME2 save I used before and he looks exactly like he did before the patch. It literally did nothing for me. Now I have no actual shepard and I deleted my profiles and lost all my character progress.

So thanks Bioware, I'm sure the multiplayer works though, reeeeal glad that got solved.

Patch useless. The female Shepard is different. The eyes are not the same. There are more than previous games. I'm really disappointed about this.

Sorry for my English. I used google translated.

I read somewhere that the ones having this problem (like me) are those who did I-don't-know-what with some weird numbers. That's not my case. The face import doesn't work. period.

Expland the "Player" field under the "Raw" tab.  It should be the final entry.

The patch got rid of the error message but it did not fix the main problem. If you break your arm and take painkillers to dull the pain you don't call the problem fixed....

There's still an underlying major issue here that needs to be dealt with.

Patch 1.2 doesn't work for me. First I have the EA connecting to server crash and when I import the Sheppard fromd ME2, the face that appears is the Custom Male Sheppard Default face. I have all DLCs from ME2 and the DLC from ME3 and the savefile is not modified at all.
