Hey guys,
I don't know if it's bad manners to respond to an appreciation thread about yourself but oh well.

Thank you guys so much for the kind words. I know you didn't have to do it, and it means a lot to me to hear it. Possibly I've spent too much time in the PR Machine thread in the past 24 hours and didn't realize that the whole point of the thread is about not trusting people like me :P So I got bummed out and confused when people were picking apart everything I said there.

It's not fair to shut myself off from engaging with the community because a few people momentarily spoiled my good mood and seemingly-endless patience.

I'm trying really hard to do right by you guys and if nothing else, I hope that you guys can look at Ray's post from today and know that the feedback I've been gathering from you great bunch of people didn't just get in the hands of our leads, but it went into the hands of our LEADER.

You guys are swell and I want you to know that I wouldn't do this type of sacrifice my personal life to tweet and converse for ANY other community. This collection of people is special to me.

Hugs,
Jess

P.S. I might soften my line about discussing BioWare on my personal channel, but it's been really nice to talk to some of you guys about puppies and dinosaurs for awhile :)

This thread is 20% cooler than the PR one anyway

I see what you did there....

Jessica Merizan is the hero we deserve. At least, her and the Bioware employees that have come down to talk to us like we're people, and I really appreciate that. I want to personally offer my thanks in that regard.

When I first read this thread I thought to myself, "I'll thank her when this is over". Then I found her posts in the PR thread and realized why this thread was made in the first place. I've been a part of many different gaming communities before. I've talked first hand with a few community managers, sometimes friendly chit-chat and other times arguments about how certain game modes should be balanced. I've never seen someone as level headed and professional as her.

Most people would have cursed this entire community because they can't take any type of feedback (constructive or not), that isn't, "I love you guys, you are the greatest ever!" Jessica has not only shown she can handle it, but handle it with class and dignity.

I have gained a lot of respect for her, and would like to say I am grateful that she is the Community Queen. Keep up the good work, and I hope this event ends well and makes the community even stronger.

Thank you, for your work Jessica!:)
I think the main reason why all statements are ripped apart is the lack of solid information from BioWare - it's not your fault, but it's very frustrating to be left in the dark. So fans start to look for hidden information in any statement even remotely related to ME/BioWare.

no need to sing praises - she's not doing anything. ^^

As someone who has worked in a customer service heavy job, keeping a positive outlook on a normal day can be trying.  Doing it with all the rage and vitriol that has been hanging around here is not easy, and I guarantee that even a little appreciation can help in that sort of situation.

And, again, what's the downside?  We make someone feel happy?

My gripe is with the endings, not the poor PR person bearing the brunt of the force.

Besides, she's prettier than evil Chris.

Besides the point. She is working damage control, part of that is being nice and pretending to care. She is loya lto the company by contract. As you said: its her job.
So all i am saying is: no need to make a thank you thread to someone who has not done anything and in fact will not do anything (except more damage control) - since she is part of of the company.

Not interested in your bible sorry.

I have nothing against her, since i do not know her. But her internet presence to me, simply put, is that of a damage control tool. Used to quell the unrest. To pretend something is happening when there really is not (not  on a level we would ever get told about)

I love Jessica a lot, I think she's a really important sympathetic figure in the Bioware community.

But, question, and I don't know if this has been raised in this thread already, but I'm not going to skim 18 pages for it-- What does everyone think of her openly saying she will not be talking about Bioware, ergo Mass Effect, on her twitter anymore? Says she doesn't want her posts being picked apart as "PR talk," does anyone have any insight (or speculation) on this?

It's from the PR thread. She posted in there trying to dispel the notion that everything she is doing is a calculated PR move for the benefit of Bioware and not the fans. You can guess how that turned out, being the PR thread....

I just wanted to say, she is the real deal.

Regardless if this is her "job", I can tell you she legitimately cares about it more than a job. Not that anyone needs to be told this, but she's a big fan of the series like us. And she has as big of a passion for it like anyone else.

I honestly think she's played a big role in keeping things stable, and bringing people a sense of peace with the series (given the circumstances). Yeah, not everyone is happy. I'm not entirely happy. But you know what, she's really been there for all of us, trying her best to bring us a sense of stability and a line to the company.

Honestly, I have my own strong opinions on the game. And I still feel there is things that maybe should be said. But I know I'm personally more at peace with the current situation because of her. As far as her no longer talking about BioWare on twitter, I don't blame her. She's not a Dev/Writer/Creator and she just like us, can have her own ideas and opinions. But given how things are currently, people could also take what she says as being a statement from the company.

But whatever she decides to do, she has my full support.

No offense dude/dudette, I'm not interested in super-analyzing everything that Bioware says and I'm not going to put on a tinfoil hat about Jessica or anyone else. I just really hated the ending of a great game. I'm talking to the company about doing something about it. They either will, or they won't. I'm not going to get into some silly clash of personalities and make this all personal. She works for Bioware, she's a nice person, she's talking to us. I suggest you just chill out and wait like the rest of us to see what Bioware does and let's not hassle anyone just doing their job. We can like her as a person, and still hate the endings, it's not like she's hip-mo-tizing us into going away or something.

K, thanks.

Ms. Merizan, don´t do it. I say this very seriously. I´m sure you have loved ones, things and people  to care for and personal projects that are at least as important as your job if not more.

As dissapointed as I am with the end of Mass Effect 3 I hold no grudge against you, Mr. Hudson or anyone involved in the creation of the game. None of you were plotting and thinking how could you make me dissapointed while almost choking from evil laughs.

Just as DA2 dissapointed me a lot and I hold no grudge against Mr. Gaider or Mr. Epler, I see no reason to enter in a state of stakhaoivism on behalf of me or any of us; it´s not worth it.

I´d like to think that I am not the cause; even if my participation in that cause is very small, of you, Bioware workers becoming a group of high on coffeine, sleep deprived, sad faced people. Even if I don´t like the outcome of your work (and not all of it; a small, yet crucial part of it), I still respect the fact that you invested a very important amount of your time doing it with who knows how many shortcomings, but´s, limitations and deterrants.

Stay well, take care and be serious about your job like any other responsable person is, but don´t let it take out your humanity.

Thanks Jess, in the early days you were our best source of info, the only person behind the wall that seemed to be reaching out. I hope there aren't any nasty netizens giving you the business; you certainly don't deserve it.

I similarly feel bad for whomever is running the Mass Effect twitter account. Imagine ten thousand people telling you you suck at your job like you made the entire game yourself and only being able to say, "sorry you feel that way." It must be so demoralizing.

It's important for the fans to remember that Bioware and their employees are not our enemies here. They are the people we are trying to win over to our point of view, and we will never get the help we need from them by acting like a-holes.

And Bioware needs to understand that we wouldn't be doing this if we didn't love your game so much and believe that we have a legitimate complaint.

Sorry for the flack you're taking Jess. I work in customer support myself and I know how frustrating it is to deal with angry customers over an issue you have no control over.
