Hey guys, I've been reading several messages here and I have one question. What's convo? Conversation? (English isn't my native tongue).
That's correct. Convo = Conversation.

She's a paragon and she has a shotgun!
The reason why she got picked apart in the PR thread is mostly because she made a few missteps in the minefield and the whole thing blew up. They had nothing against her personally, but she made a few really bad moves (from the PR perspective) and they punished her for it.
That being said, this is an absurd amount of pressure to be under. This amount of backlash is unpreecedented in video game history, and she's sandwiched bewteen us and her bosses.
She has done incredibly well under these circumstances. I think she ought to get some downtime though; she seems to be getting tired and making mistakes.

Jessica was one of the first Bioware people I engaged with when the ending left me in a state of bewilderment, before I even checked forums and blogs. She attempted to give me a new perspective on the ending which didn't quite take, but I sincerely appreciate her thoughtfulness and desire to understand my negativity.
I hope that, when enough time and emotion has passed, she will share her personal analysis of this controversy. No matter where you stand on it, it's obviously a pivotal moment in gamer-developer relationships.
Cheers, Jessica.

Hey guys,
I don't know if it's bad manners to respond to an appreciation thread about yourself but oh well.
Thank you guys so much for the kind words. I know you didn't have to do it, and it means a lot to me to hear it. Possibly I've spent too much time in the PR Machine thread in the past 24 hours and didn't realize that the whole point of the thread is about not trusting people like meSo I got bummed out and confused when people were picking apart everything I said there.
It's not fair to shut myself off from engaging with the community because a few people momentarily spoiled my good mood and seemingly-endless patience.
I'm trying really hard to do right by you guys and if nothing else, I hope that you guys can look at Ray's post from today and know that the feedback I've been gathering from you great bunch of people didn't just get in the hands of our leads, but it went into the hands of our LEADER.
You guys are swell and I want you to know that I wouldn't do this type of sacrifice my personal life to tweet and converse for ANY other community. This collection of people is special to me.
Hugs,
Jess
P.S. I might soften my line about discussing BioWare on my personal channel, but it's been really nice to talk to some of you guys about puppies and dinosaurs for awhile
As much as i want to thank you for everything you have done for us, i do have to note that it is quotes like this:
"I hope that you guys can look at Ray's post from today and know that
the feedback I've been gathering from you great bunch of people didn't

LEADER. "
sort of makes us doubt Bioware employees here sometimes. As you have probably read alot by now, alot of us are not happy about Ray's post. He commends critique, but shuts down comments, he states criticism is fair, but then points to reviews and "art", he brushes our real arguments off as "deconstructive" and instead just wants to extend what is already there.
I do really apprieciate you , i just want to let you know that there are alot of things these days that your employer says or does that show a great disconnect with the fans. So you pointing to that statement, even tho that statement is a giant PR mess with more insults than apologies or promises, that kind of makes us not trust those employees fully.
Just wanted to comment on that, hope you understand
*hugs back*

I truly don't envy being in your position these days and I can only applaud you for handling this with so much warmth and grace.
To those who say that it's her job: Well, she could easily do it without investing herself half as much. Just keep the silence, throw out the occasional predefined PR gibberish, and leave it at that.
But she chooses to actually TALK with us, willingly facing the major sh*tstorm these forums are at the moment.
That in itself deserves some praise

Unfortunately there has been a small group of people on here, on twitter, and on Facebook that have not been constructive or polite. Or even just firm. These people have just been outright nasty.
And throughout all this controversy Jessica Merizan has pretty been the "public face" of Bioware; and thus had to deal with the brunt of the criticism and vitriol.
So I just wanted to say in light of the official apology from Dr Muzukya (if not any official confirmation on any changes forthcoming) that I feel that we all should thank Jessica for how awesome she has been during this whole thing.
Because she totally has been awesome.
So thank you Jessica for being awesome about our complaints (constructive or not); about making a real effort to understand us and where we were coming from when so many others didn't even seem to be trying (even Casey Hudson didn't seem like he really got what the whole ending thing was about if his press releases were anything to go by), and some "journalists" being openly derisive and nasty about us; and for at least coming off like you got us.
HEAR HEAR!! I couldn't agree more!!

There really are a few people who rage like madmen and overanalyse anything she writes. I actually feel sorry for her and the other staff including devs. don't think anyone can relax or take a break right now :-(

No no.
I was hoping you would, so that you would be able to see that most of us think your awesome and totes deserve cookies for all your hard work.
I knew that all the hate and vitriol, and nit picking must have been taking its toll. So I hope seeing this thread cheered you up. :-)

While I can agree that a more positive tenor towards "us" in Ray's post may have been better I still can understand where he's coming from.
He can't just openly rip his team apart.
He can't just say ME3 is crap don't buy it.
And it takes time to elaborate something people wouldn't just rip appart straight away in the context of fixing the ending.
Also I firmly believe we are past the point were Bioware can think they'll get away this time without actually doing something. It would cause riots now, after people really heard from different sources (IGN included) that there will be an ending DLC to go back to "talk to the hand" on april. They would have already made a second press release correcting IGN etc.
Edit: Ah yes, and I fully support this thread!
