I am firmly in the retakemasseffect-hatedtheending camp but I like to think that most if not all of my posts have been firm yet constructive about my dislike of the ending and what I feel is the problem.

And the vast majority of the many THOUSANDS of people who disliked the game ending felt, and acted the same as me.

Loved the game, hated the ending. Spoke about it in a constructive, polite, and firm manner. To demonstrate to Bioware that we love them but we don't feel the ending was acceptable.

Unfortunately there has been a small group of people on here, on twitter, and on Facebook that have not been constructive or polite. Or even just firm. These people have just been outright nasty.

And throughout all this controversy Jessica Merizan has pretty been the "public face" of Bioware; and thus had to deal with the brunt of the criticism and vitriol.

So I just wanted to say in light of the official apology from Dr Muzukya (if not any official confirmation on any changes forthcoming) that I feel that we all should thank Jessica for how awesome she has been during this whole thing.
Because she totally has been awesome.

So thank you Jessica for being awesome about our complaints (constructive or not); about making a real effort to understand us and where we were coming from when so many others didn't even seem to be trying (even Casey Hudson didn't seem like he really got what the whole ending thing was about if his press releases were anything to go by), and some "journalists" being openly derisive and nasty about us; and for at least coming off like you got us.

/totally agree

Is it possible that Bioware told her to back off? She has been at this for days, if not the full two weeks all of this has been going on.

Agree with this thread - Thank you, Jessica, for being willing to engage with us, discuss this with us and listen. You provided valuable support, even if you didn't agree with the position, and I appreciate that.

dunno if bioware silenced her or if she just got burnt out. Either way it sucks that she wont be engaging the community anymore. She was the best community manager for a couple weeks that I had ever experienced.

Were people really flaming her? WHY?! She's been the most optimistic, compassionate voice coming out of Bioware. This is getting so ugly. Ughhh... I feel sick. :-(

Emotions are running high and they want to vent. It isn't helping that major review sites and names in the gaming industry are flamming disgruntled fans and treating them like dumb children.

It is an apology.

Sort of.

Well it's pretty much as close as the EA PR machine is going to let Bioware get to apologising at any rate.

A couple things to remember

A) Not everyone who hates the ending is here, and we don't have any kind of influence on them to try and indicate everything should remain civil.

B) Even some from this place were uncivil, and it was uncalled for.  The kind who see an enemy behind every corner.

C) Some people are just flat out trolling.  It's what they do for fun, throw out insulting hateful comments for their own amusement.  And if you actually find a movement trying hard not to do that, how better to amuse yourself by trolling not only the person you're directing the comments too, but also an entire group of people trying really hard to not be you.

She added a note to the end of her PR thread post:

Jessica Merizan wrote...

Just so you guys are aware, my Twitter account will no longer be a place to discuss BioWare (at least for now). If you're following me there and that's the only reason, I suggest unfollowing me.

I will also be changing my interactions with fans on the BSN to a role that is more moderation focused and less engagement focused. Thanks to those of you who have provided wonderful conversations.

Lastly, despite what someone indicated on an earlier page, I am not a salaried employee. I am paid hourly. It's a good job, but I'm not being paid to engage with the community at 3AM. I did it because I thought it was helpful. I'm sorry that it wasn't.

EDIT: None of this affects my role. I'm still your advocate and am actively collecting feedback, thoughts, questions, concerns etc.

It sounds like she just needs a bit of a break for her own sanity. I think she's earned it, and we should respect that.

Twitter is a bad place to be trying to answer these questions though as very few actually get an answer to even positive feedback.

If 10 people post something constructive/polite and only 1 gets a response it kind of sucks to be the other 9. I think its more likely she has been told to stop from higher up but she deserve credit for her work over the last 2 weeks.

While I neither hated or loved the ending I want to thank Jess for everything she did for both sides of the community. It means a lot to all of us that you represent us with Bioware. I hope that you are able to get some much needed rest now.

I'm sad for Her not being able to discuss the game in a positive way like the rest of the fans with us. But I understand Her reasons for backing off since everything she says people interpret as coming from Bioware themselves and not just another person who is a fan of the Universe.

I Hope things Calm down soon so we can all get back to talking about a game we all clearly feel very passionate about.

Thank you Jessica for being a great Community Manager

She's been so great in a tough situation. I get nervous when I see a person called out by name in a thread. I'm glad this one gives her the kudos she deserves. Thank you, Jessica.

I would also like to express my thanks to Jessica for the work she's done on this. Being the face/voice on the other side of the ending backlash is pretty rough detail.
