Forgetful Women at the human embassy (possible spoilers)

The old woman seems forgetful (putting it mildly) and the Asari may/ is going to be her daughter in law.
The woman asks after a soldier and various conversations happen.
Is this going anywhere or is it simply there as background story that we're supposed to infer things from?
I feel like I should keep paying attention, but does it just loop through the conversations?
Thanks

The woman and the asari are actually hallucinations conjured up by the indoctrination. The proof of this is that no one else notices them. AT ALL.
And the scene is repeated over and over again.
This will lead to.....
Mission acomplished.

I always thought the talk between the recruit and the sergeant at the Normandy dock was a lot sadder than with Teresa and the asari d-i-l.
Yeah, the one about the girl not wanting to fight Cerberus because her brother just joined them? Yeah, that made me think of my sister... and made me sad.

It was only later that I learned where she had been stationed, and the name of the human girl that was with her. And it got even sadder....

Agreed, but I thought it got even worse after reading the datapads from her brother at the Cerb base with the Hanar medi-gel.

Which, when you think about it, probably means he was one of the Cerberus soldiers that had to be killed for Shepard and company to accomplish the mission, and, since this is one of the first missions available, he's likely been long dead by the time that she requests her transfer.

That one really deserved a resolution, instead you walk by later and it reset and the dialogue starts all over again and you think: "Poor girl. She is in denial and the Turian doesn't have the heart to tell her..."

@dgcatanisiri it gets even worse as the asari starts getting cold feet when the woman wants to get in a serious relationship with her after leaving her husband. It's like "nice you make her leave her husband but now you wanna bugger off as well. Choice."

Because it's automatically morally condemnable to fall out of love with a soldier?dgcatanisiri wrote...
Okay, am I the only one who wanted Shepard to have a reaction to the woman who was leaving her soldier husband? Because I can't imagine that Shepard, who reiterates that s/he's 'just a soldier' at several points, wouldn't have some choice words for this woman.
In any case, I imagine that the asari gets over her cold feet after a while.

This one was actually kinda creepy for me, because she looks exactly like my Colonist Shepard. Same hair, her face kinda looks the same, and she's about the same age Colonist Shepard was when Mindior was destroyed.
