That story tears my gorram heart out. The continuing plotlines with the background characters are a nice addition to the story.

I personally think that the ambient stories and conversations are the best part of the main story (barring the Tuchanka/Rannoch arc and Thessia's ending), they're one of the few times in the game that I actually felt the war was affecting people and all are really quite poignant.

I thought this was another one of those that ends crappy for most involved. Doesn't the Asari end up pulling a hasty retreat when the woman starts talking about moving in together? Basically 'this was fun until you starting looking at me for commitment'.

So the soldier ends up with a wife who cheats on him and doesn't love him, and the wife ends up stuck in a marriage she no longer has interest in or she ends up kicked out of her quarters. I guess the Asari has to go back to fishing at Purgatory.

Well, at least the female soldier on the Embassy level manages to get her daughter sent to stay with family on Thessi...crap.

To me these background stories carry more weight of emotion than the stupid child!! Having people on your ship conversing about their families would be better like in ME2.

Both were possible: there is no false delimma, nor any obligation for her to go with the affair. You are entertaining a false delimma when there is none: it was in her power to decide to decide when to break up, how to communicate the breakup, and even to engage in the affair when she was already in a committed relationship.

Dilemma.

Yes, the whole set of circumstances was ultimately something of a mistake, but in the current situation, there's not a great deal else she can do except not tell him unless he comes back alive.

She could not maintain the affair, Xil. It doesn't become better to continue a betrayal simply because you already started it.

Here's one ambient dialogue (plus actual conversation) that I've not seen mentioned.

The effect of the capture of the Cerberus crew by the collectors.

Listen to Chakwas when she talks to Adams, Gabby when she talks to Ken (the only time in the entire series where Ken actually gets angry/short with Gabby) and your conversation with kelly when you try to invite her back...

I loved the fact that ME3 ACTUALLY noted that being captured by horrific looking aliens, stuck in pods while watching hundreds of other people being liquefied would have some psysvhological effects on people...

Too often these things in games simply gets ignored...

As far as I'm concerned the background conversations are some of the most important parts to the entire ME3 experience. You really feel the impact of the war with characters you can't just turn around and help/comfort.

One of my favorite of these dialogs is one with a human woman and her salarian friend who is a soldier. They show up after the Coup attempt outside of purgatory. He got injured and she was worried about him so she sold her car (which she adored) to get him the best armor there is on the market. I thought that was adorable.

Made it all the way through the thread without my favourite being mentioned then here you are <_< ;)

Another one I like is the one about Sanctary where the savy volus knows somehow, in some way, someone is making a profit out of helping refugees.
