 Just wondering if there is any differences apart from character wise you get from having one over the other.

I know Dr. Chakwas becomes a War Asset... (10 points...really? I'd rather have her back.) Dialogue and interaction-wise...not sure because I always take Chakwas.

EDIT: Found the doctor recruiting video. Dr. Michel requires a persausion check. She seems pretty reluctant.

Well Dr. Chakwas belongs on the Normandy. She was there at the beginning. ^^

I just did a playthrough with Dr. Michel and, no, she doesn't have any friendship dialogues like Dr. Chakwas has. But there's no other choice if Dr. Chakwas died in the Collector base.

Well she did send a mail in ME2 showing she cares about Garrus. I just got her on the ship and will observe how this turns out..

I tried to keep Chakwas at the hospital in my most recent playthrough, but then she basically begs to be on the Normandy and... I couldn't do it. Welcome aboard, Karin.

She and Tali have an interesting conversation about the first time they met. I'll just check it out on YouTube at some point- as Chakwas says, she belongs on the Normandy, so I'll never see it in-game.

Yeah, if you send the crew back to the Normandy without an escort, everybody dies.

Yeah, I thought Garrus and her were gonna have a conversation, since Garrus tells Tali Dr. Michel gave him Turian chocolate. Or maybe I just missed it..

I love having her onboard the Normandy. She's been with Shepard through it all. Jupp, she belongs on the ship  =)

Chakwas becomes a War Asset (10), as has been said. Other than that there isn't much of a difference. While the War Asset number seems low, I have recently noticed if you are using a non-import playthru then EVERY War Asset matters. So much so that making Chakwas and your Virmire Survivor (Kaidan or Ash) stay behind can help.

She doesn't attempt anything though, they don't even talk to each other. I don't know if she says anything extra if you have her on board during a playthrough with Garrus as LI, it wasn't my case.

Haha no, but when you bring Garrus with you to the gethcruiser, he tells Tali that Dr Michel sent him turian chocolate and says Tali can have it if she wants and Tali says something along the lines "oh, you better watch yourself Shepard"....would be fun if she tried something tho

Not much of a difference. She even replaces Chakwas in her banter with Engineer Adams (about synthetic vs. organic life) using similar but a little different lines.

I'm surprised nobody noticed that the reward for doing the medical trade quest is slightly different between them. With Dr. Michel, you get +2 max capacity to your medi-gel. With Dr. Chakwas, you get a 50% chance that you don't use up medi-gel when you use it.
