Obviously the guy who wrote this article is 100% right. You can't talk to the children in this community about adult topics like artistic integrity, though, it just falls on deaf ears.

I just hate that all gamers get lumped in with the obtuse vocal minority.

As an artist myself, I take personal insult to your insinuation.  The ending was not artistic at all.  It was a complete farce and a total contradiction to everything we, the fans, were promised over the years.  Pretty lights don't make something artistic intrinsicly.

If you're an artist you should understand that your subjective opinion and made up promises aren't a valid method for gauging artistic integrity.  An artist with integrity is someone who stands by his vision, because everyone will have an opinion of what they think you "should" be doing.  In the end it's your work and if you have any integrity it will remain your work.

I think a lot of you just say you're artists because you think it makes your point for you.  You don't sound like someone who's ever created anything that would require integrity to maintain.

Made up promises?  You must be new to the forums.  There's plenty of threads quoting the devs' promises over the years.

And part of artistic integrity that "armchair critiques" always leave out is keeping true to the promises you make to your fans and clients.  The fact that the vision, as laid out by BioWare interviews and commentary over the years, was not held to, in your own misaligned judgement of what artistic integrity is, still leaves them lacking.

As for assuming someone isn't an artist, I would love to know how you could prove that my paintings haven't sold as I sit here looking at a several checks resulting from said paintings.  But that wouldn't fit into your little box that lets you insult people, would it?

I've seen all of those quotes and the developers kept every promise they made.  3 different endings and your choices effect all of them; that's all they ever promised you.  Anything else you thought was promised to you is all in your head.  Also, you pretending to know their true vision through random blurbs is laughable; deciphering an artists vision takes a lot more than that.

I understand the sad ending made you upset and you want to lash out, but pretending you were lied to is just immature.  You claiming to be an artist with no feasible way to prove it is also immature.  Just be honest, you don't handle your emotions well and it makes you lash out for poor reasons.  You're certainly not the only person with that problem on these forums.

I do not feel that lied to; however, I do feel that the standard quality of the series was strangely absent the endings presented.

All that I hold hope for is that they are able to suitably flesh out the endings to be less mediocre. In no way would I like to see Shepard ride off on a unicorn. I just want the ending to make some form of sense when put under the microscope.

Any microscope. Like one of the discovery kids' editions even.

I think the ending controversy works like a teeter totter. The more vocal you are about how you hate the ending, the more pathetic your real life is.

If Bioware really feels the need to change the ending, or fix it then that is their prerogative. I think they should stick to their original ending, but they are a company that produces games where the "fans are involved" in the creative process, maybe not a lot of involvement but it was there.

As much as I would like to see a different ending, I don't want Bioware to produce something that is only for appeasement. I accept the game as is, it has its flaws, but I don't hate it.
