Site Enhancement Request: Ignore feature.

Something to keep in mind for a future enhancement. Might also stick a 'reason' with some common options like:
none imparticular
harrassment
fanboy trolling
language
etc... and then you would have tracable reasons to monitor people down the road if they become a problem.

"Your search for « ignore »
returned 5 result/s."
(That was when limited to just this specific forum.)
The complaint about the fragility of the PM composition interface is far more important to me. I also have lost countless mostly-finished PMs I was writing, and several Report this Message forms, and a couple of Report this Member forms. Never two hours worth of work, I don't type that slowly.

The next-youngest was four months ago. I haven't read any of the other threads this time around, so if one of the two from five months ago is something else, I wouldn't be able to say.
However, I repeat that the existing state of the site is still so primitive and lacking in amenties that I want fixes to what is broken, before adding anything new!

And yea, sorry about the thread necro, but I thought this idea needed some attention.. Especially around the time I first posted.

Indeed we do, I have mentioned it to a moderator a couple times, but didn't receive a response. I don't know why this feature would not be implemented, it seems to me, it would alleviate some situations..that happen and that I have personally encountered.
Blocking is not enough, I'm afraid.
Lets all try to be civil here too...just a heads up because one of the threads I was in before got shut down..it was yet another thread requesting the ignore feature.

In essence there is no mechanism that promotes civility - which is a key element in any sort of online environment. Bad posts (leaving aside any definition of what constitutes "bad") seldom rise to the level where they can be reported. Response in kind to such posts degrades civility and, as Feraele points out, can result in locked threads.
Implementation of the ignore function seems like an elegant solution.

If it ever comes possible; I'd like to see an 'ignore this person' feature implemented into the whole social site. Especially on the forums. Where I can ignore someone and their posts simply never show up. ...
I would just like to be able to effectively remove them from my social experience.
I humbly suggest using my version of an “ignore this person” feature. It always works for online guilds, forums, twitter, chat rooms, everything. It’s never failed. It never will. It can be turned on and off instantly. The best part is not having to install or upgrade any software. It just works.Skadhi1 wrote...

Interested? Here goes :
The next time someone earns being ignored take the mental effort to remember their online name. So if a member named “ForumTroll” keeps posting nonsense in topics you frequent just vent your frustration on memorizing the name “ForumTroll”. If this is too much, at least at first, just write the name down on paper or a text file. After a while you’re know these names like the back of your hand.
From now on, when visiting the forums, glance at the name of the poster before bothering to read their post. Since English is read from left to right and the poster’s name is at the very top of their post, it becomes second nature to know who’s posting before you read what they post. That should be a learned skill in mere hours, if not minutes.
So when reading a topic and the next reply is from “ForumTroll”, which btw I must repeat took you less than half a second to notice, simply ignore their entire post and skip to the next poster. Repeat if the next poster is another member you want to ignore. Either way, its really quick and easy.
Just like you can ignore emails and phone calls from people you don’t know or don't want to talk to, likewise with any online forum. When you come across their online name just skip to the next person, wholesale ignoring whatever nonsense they had to say.

I hope no one would ignore me!
Impossible to ignore that beard..
Really though, having it so anyone blocked(Or ignore, muted, disregared, or whatever you want to call it) prevent their posts from showing in topics would be awful awful nice..

I don't care if it would mean people ignoring me, but I totally agree that the 'Ignore' feature we have should equate not just to stopping the people sending us PMs or seeing what is on our profile page but also stopping us from seeing anything they post.
That way the 'fanboys' (I'll admit I am one) won't have to put up with reading the same old rants from the same old folks and the 'ranters' won't have to put up with the same old 'defence' from the 'fanboys' if they don't want to.
Surely the 'Ignore' feature can be upgraded to allow total 'ignorance' of people?
It's available on the SW:TOR forums (you can see that the person has posted but you don't see anything they wrote), so why can't it be added here?

Bah, this will do, am guessing one of mine is probably one of the ones Joey mentioned earlier as I know we've had topics about this in which I've been involved.

I agree completely. I've more or less completely stopped posting in 99% of threads (this one being the 1%) because of trolls, flamers, etc.. This thread will more than likely be locked soon, but I just wanna keep the idea alive!
