Why No DX11 and Gamepad Support?

I am really curious as to why DX11 isn't a technical feature for Mass Effect 3. They did it for Dragon Age II on PC... so why not Mass Effect 3? I am also a little put off by the absence of gamepad support (again!). I mean BioWare already worked with the controller on the 360. While I am not a game developer, I imagine porting the controller setup isn't a difficult task. Please correct me if I am wrong.

Well, the asnwer could be only one - $.
I would love to see DX11 + HighRes support (I don't care about gamepad support, because almost all cRPG game ''should'' be played with keyboard+mouse combo), but I doubt that this will be truth... But hey, they make it for ''greater'' DA2!?!

If you guys played Crysis 2 (now THAT is a game which needed major overhauling to the story!), Crytek eventually released both a DX11 and hi-resolution texture packs. The DX11 didn't do much, but the hi-res texture pack was fantastic.
Hopefully Bioware will finally spoil us pc gamers with some hi-res textures.
Edit: I forgot to clarify, the cut-scene textures (like certain ones in ME2) are really the only ones in need of an upgrade. The rest of the game looks wonderful.

I don't think that they will. They have more limited resources than Crytek and in case of ME, graphics are not main feature.

Oh I am not complaining about the graphics or anything. In all honesty, I think the art style makes up for the technical aspects behind the graphics. Just wanted to point out that DAII was a rushed game, yet it had DX11 (note: not Implying DX11 makes a game look good). I do want BioWare to add gamepad support which I am sure they won't. The argument could be said that I should just play the games on the Xbox 360 or PS3...

I'd imagine it would have to do with some of the game engine limitations since that the engine itself is just an improved and more up to date version of the original one used in Mass Effect which was a modified Aurora Engine with bits of the Unreal 3 engine which from what it seems usualy skirts away from DX11 or other PC features just to save developement time and allowing them to release the game on all 3 platforms at the same time.. DA2 is a whole nother story because the engine was a completely different one from Mass Effect but probably had an easier time implenting DX11 since it was a more recently developed engine.Reginthorn wrote...

Furthermore I'd imagine once we get into the next generation of consoles is when we'll finally see the next Mass Effect game move on to a new engine with DX11 whatever DX version is available around that time. But for now we're stuck with technology limited to what works on the 360 and PS3.

I had no idea Mass Effect ran on the Aurora Engine with parts of the Unreal 3 engine. I always thought it was just a customized Unreal 3 engine. In which case, it could support DX11 because I know Batman: Arkham City runs on Unreal 3 Engine.

I'm pretty sure all three ME games are exclusively UE3. And high-res textures are included in the PC version of ME3.
