I don't feel any regret when I kick you from a gold game.

I seriously don't see why certain people even try to do gold with terrible gear/characters/experience.
I've seen players with level 20 characters and N7 rating higher than 100 and still fail at gold miserably.

More than a couple of times I have queued for silver to level a mid-level character, or test out a new random build and the game decided to just throw me into a gold game for the hell of it.
Though when that happens I either leave, or switch to something that I have built for playing on gold.

But seeing how many people with a n7 past 200 fail miserably at silver i will never ever pub gold, especially as long as my best weapon is a avenger x

you're less then N7 80
if i do not think you're weapon combinations don't suit your class
you're playing a weapons focused class under level 18 or a tech/biotic class under 15
your class doesn't complement what we already have or wish to get
and this is why i rarely fail gold with pugs

Second, the game itself sometimes places you into a higher level then you were looking for. I do not know why, but I learned to pay attention to the lobby parameters and not to rely on the search system.
And you are absolutely right that you need a well developed character to challenge your skills on gold. Since my day 1 I never played gold again. I am still not satisfied with the equipment of my character. Maybe I never will be as I am playing a human soldier and found that this class has less potential then other classes. There is a reason that you have silver and gold classes. Looking at the gold classes I see that no human class is within that set.

Two remarks: newbies do not pay attention to the search criteria so they may appear in a gold lobby without having any clue what is going to come. I did on my very first day, using the search criteria was the first thing I learned :-)

i have a theory behind that
when you change the settings for a match they don't update to the server, so people will join your match thinking it's silver but the host changed the setting to gold but it only reognises it as gold when the match starts

That's not the game but the host changing levels. The search might catch it right before the change. I don't think I've ever joined game in progress that was above the search parameters. YMMV

Also worth noting that the default option is random difficulty. It probably should be Bronze since N7 1 level 1 in gold or silver is likely to get kicked, or just be ineffective in the game. It's not really fun for anyone involved.

Yeah, every so often the game decides it knows better than I do what sort of game I should be queueing for.

Yes I'm talking to you mr N7 rating <50 and trying with a character at level 15 or less and rocking your crappy SMG or Mantis on a class it just doesn't belong.

Thankfully every one else died after 20 seconds and back in the ready screen it was suddently showing gold, that was a pretty nice facepalm moment wondering "why did it say bronze...?"

What leaderboard are you the top of? (if you are talking the inround one, I more or less always come in for the top two slots unless I'm playing with people who are actually good)
Also I tend to die less than my allies when playing, mostly out of common sense, mostly because its pub.
Sorry for kicking noobs, but I'd rather not waste my time losing, and watching you die and populate the bottom of the leaderboard isn't my idea of fun. I can't solo gold unfortunately, if I would I wouldn't play with a party.

I've kicked ass on gold with some people with low N7 ratings because they knew how to play and other times found myself reviving particular players often and they had the highest N7 ratings in the group.
This sounds like when gearscore became apparent in WoW - people were more focused on gear and rating rather than SKILL.
