I don't feel any regret when I kick you from a gold game.

And I feel no regret when I do better than some peen-stroking elitists who complain in lobby and tell everyone how to play.

The real telling factor here is that he didn't have the courage to tell these people he "doesn't regret kicking" about how superior he is. Have to announce it on a forum of people you're confident won't know you when they play with you, that is impressive.

Reasons to kick:

1. You have higher N7 penis, oh sorry, level.
2. Vanguard joins.
3. Drell adept joins.
4. You forgot to make private lobby and you need a place for your friend.
5. You're in a bad mood.

Heh. I have an N7 score above 400, tend to only join games above bronze with characters in the 18-20 range and typically have sensible gear. And I am still not all that good. So take me as proof these milestones mean little.

Dude if you are on a public gold, you should take what you get. If you want to be picky, make some friends and stick to private games.

You read the same posts I did. Do you really think he will be making any friends?

Pretty much this.

I've got N7 240, and all lvl 20 charries for now, but I really don't want to play gold for multiple reasons:

1. It seems to be populated with holier-than-thou attitudes.
2. I have bad experiences with game chat, yet it seems to be required that I speak in gold games. I don't need to deal with verbal beatdowns each time something bad happens or if I apparently am a "wrong" class or have "useless" gear.
3. Nobody makes it sound fun on the forums =/ most gold threads I see tend to be a lot of whining about this or that or hating on players who might not be as good.

So, I think this thread needs this. Very badly

don't think bad about all Gold players... of all the multiplayer communities i have participated in, ME3 is generally the most positive community, though I suppose I generally leave lobbies where people are obviously being idiots... almost everyone i have played with has been reasonable, and only gets angry when someone is refusing to play as a team

I'm about where you are.  All characters except vanguard at 20 (vanguard's 18 and in progress).

I've played maybe a handful of silver games, I've never played gold and I never will.  I play bronze basically all the time.  I don't expect that I would enjoy the higher settings, or be fortunate enough to end up in a good random group with a low douche factor.

All i play is gold and it's not as bad as it seems. I made about a dozen new friends playing gold. The multiplayer is a team sport, especially on gold, so yes, most gold lobbies won't play with you if you don't have a mic. But it's not like call of duty, there isn't any ranting or whining. Gold lobbies are no were near as bad as people are making it out to be. I've never had a bad experience playing gold.

Guys I'm all up for elitist bashing too. But we also forget the other side of the story. Won't joining a gold game (not by accident) with a low level character just be gimping the team and hurting your chances to win?

Sure it's fun to bash people kicking you but keep in mind, if you join as a low level you are being pretty selfish asking other people to carry you. Just like people trying to top scoreboards breaks co-op gameplay, handicapping your team by making them win the game for you also breaks co-op gameplay.

I'm all for going for gold with a n7 20 level 18 character. Just don't bring a level 5 into a gold game. That won't be fun for anyone in the party (except for the lvl 5 if he's a troll).

This ^

All joking aside, I don't care if you SAY you can play like a pro with a level 10 whatever on Gold.  If you're uber awesome with a level 10, great, but imagine how much BETTER you play with a level 20.  You wanna roll with a level 10, fine but it won't be in MY game.

Hate me all you want.  Call me an elitist to your hearts content.  Come on the forums and cry havoc and let loose the dogs of war.

I... don't... care.

Come to Gold with your A-Game or gtfo.

**** you man. Seriously, I've seen some 100+ N7 ranking people who failed. Look I'm not a fan of overachievers who jump into games they aren't ready for, that just gets everyone killed, but that doesn't mean you just boot them. How are they gonna get better without playing the game. Tell them this is a gold game you're not ready bro don't just whine at them. Yesterday a level 9 guy joined and a level 130 or so was screaming (really screaming) for him to leave. Guess who survived longer in the game. Just give them a chance, if they suck, kick them. or you could  just fight cerberus troops  because they suck.

That's what Bronze/Silver is for.

Don't give me that, "how are they supposed to get better?" garbage.  You get BETTER by playing the lower difficulties.  You don't get BETTER by playing in Gold.

What I mean is don't scream at them for their N7 ranking, cause N7 ranking doesn't make them good by default. If they're low level character wise, tell them their character isn't ready for gold and to gtfo please. I'd understand booting a level 1 soldier with an N7 ranking of 300

You couldnt be more wrong. character level means nothing. i promote my Engineer class all the time and all i play is gold. Even at a level 1 in gold, i still finish the match as one of the top 2 players with the most points. N7 rating means alot. You have to use different characters to know there strengths and weeknesses and know who can survive gold. Not only that but you need increesed equipment capacity, which you only get after buying alot of 60k spectre packs. If your the last person left alive, that one extra rocket, or gel-pack, or survival pack can be the difference between winning and loosing.

So you would happily kick someone like me who do more than fine on gold just because I don't want to promote my characters and instead just want them to stay at lvl 20?

I don't care if their N7 rating is 4500 (the current Global Leader for PC; NocturalAura)... if you come in a Gold match with anything lower then level 15, I'm bootin' you or dropping out so the ones that don't want to boot you can deal with carrying you.  My time, my game, my rules.

Depends on your weapons, class and whether or not you have ammo/armor/weapon equipment thrown on.  If your an N7 20 with an infiltrator who's sporting a Widow V and all the trimmings, yeah, you can stay.  If you're an N7 20 infiltrator sporting a Mattock I and no equipment thrown up... you're getting booted.

My equipment is fine, but that guy more or less only talks about your N7 rank.

^^Agreed everyone being at their best is important, so they should level up on silver then go to gold.

Kicking for low N7 is stupid, as long as it's over 20. You need to understand that somebody might be playing only one class and doesn't want to promote. Saw a lvl 40 vanguard today and he was doing ok on gold.

I first beat gold as a badly built level N17 Vanguard. I scored highest.

What people who really kick mean is 'I fear being outdone by a low level'.

N7 rating is meaningless, and low level characters can definitely perform on Gold (or just plain carry the team) in skilled hands.  Hell, I had to solo Wave 9 and 10 of Gold once today as a level 9 Quarian Engineer, and I did so successfully (damn useless teammates...)

People showing up with mind-boggling equipment choices, however, is often good evidence that the person is not going to perform well, as it indicates a basic lack of understanding of the game.  I have yet to see a singular example of someone diverging from my abysmal expectations of them when they come into a room wielding absurd combinations.
