I don't feel any regret when I kick you from a gold game.

i see no problems with kicking people in a gold lobby.

you want to win, i think it is ok to kick players who you think is going to drag the team down.

No. They're afraid that the low level will drag their team down. This isn't to say that all low levels are bad; you might still find some gold amidst the pyrite, but the latter is much more likely.

On-topic: I feel no remorse when I kick players from my games, then fill their PM boxes with expletives and rude comments about their mothers and genitalia. On an off day, I will also bring their sexuality into question, because my tough guy facade is the key to my enjoyment.

N7 rating is meaningless, and low level characters can definitely perform on Gold (or just plain carry the team) in skilled hands.  Hell, I had to solo Wave 9 and 10 of Gold once today as a level 9 Quarian Engineer, and I did so successfully (damn useless teammates...)

People showing up with mind-boggling equipment choices, however, is often good evidence that the person is not going to perform well, as it indicates a basic lack of understanding of the game.  I have yet to see a singular example of someone diverging from my abysmal expectations of them when they come into a room wielding absurd combinations.

Yeah there's lot of bad high level N7 players. But N7 rating is not completely meaningless. For someone who glances at your N7 level, if the number is high, more often than not it means that this person has opened a LOT of spectre packs and has upgraded equipment. But yeah, you need to have the skills to go with that equipment too.

And for those guys who justify living longer on higher difficulties, here's another perspective: If you just run around avoiding enemies instead of trying to kill them, of course you can live longer than your team mates (who are trying to kill them and may get killed in the process). Now I know there's a time and place to run away. But if you bring in a low level character and all you do is run away instead of helping people kill things, you are not contributing as much as you could. Sure you will survive longer than your teammates but that probably won't accomplish much.

Now I know this is not what all low level players do. Just letting you know this is a multi-faceted issue and not just black and white.

Totally agree - I kick billions of players that doesn't play Engineer, Spy or Adept. Sorry, I just do.
Also, if you come to server with level 12 and Black Widow II you will still be kicked -.- Weapon doesn't make you good.

I first beat gold as a level 5 human sentinel and I did it solo the first day that the Demo came out.  I'm also an olympian champion swimmer and am married to a model for victoria's secret.  I make roughly 400k a year as a financial advisor.

What people mean when they post stuff like this is, "This never really happened but I've been kicked a lot for being low level on Gold/Silver so they were probably in the right to do so but I'm going to post on the internet stating the exact opposite and exaggerate a little because, in the end, it will make me feel better and maybe a perfect stranger will believe me."

N7 rating? Meaningless. One could play one single class exclusively, and thus still be only N7 20, yet have played more and more successfully than the highest N7s in the leaderboard. Even gear levels are a better indicator, but still far from definitive.

Low character level? Yeah, as a rule that's not optimal. If you want to play gold with a low character, it's best leave that to private groups with friends and so on. You probably won't get much understanding from randoms.

i dont think i want to solo gold, theres a video on youtube of a guy soloing gold and it shows the video is one hour and fourty-four mins long, lol thats just a little too long for only around 70000 credits, in an hour you can get 60000+ on bronze alone avarage 15000 per game round. 15-20 mins a round, so yeah no soloing gold for me.

it's amazing how someone can post a random, misguided thought that doesn't actually say anything new and still rake in 7 pages (and counting) in replies.

People who kick because they think the weapons don't match the character are absolute retards.
Its not the set up that matters, its how they use it

Yeh, when i see a human sentinel with a widow and a revenant i am suppossed to think he found some kind of coolie beenies instead of he just hasn't researched/tested enough.

My advice to people not wanting to get kicked from gold is to raise your N7 to at least over 100. I don't see any "honor" or anything in trying to keep your N7 low, and it just creates frustration for oneself since people do (and always will) kick for low numbers. No amount of "it doesn't matter" statements on the forums will ever change that.

People are, of course, free to endlessly point out that a low N7 doesn't necessarily mean bad player, but personally I chose to just promote a few guys till I was around 150-200, which eliminated the problem altogether (unless you have a ridiculous weapon loadout, in which case you'll still get kicked).

Just a suggestion.

My thoughts exactly, you are in a game for a good 30 minutes for a complete run, last thing you need is some handicap, which makes it 3 or 2 versus a crapton of reapers on wave 7+.

Join my game with a high level class with decent weapons and I won't kick you. If you're a level 18+ asari adept with a crappy smg I won't kick you either. N7 rating doesn't mean much from my eperience, class type/level and weapons do though.

Some of my most entertaining gold matches were joining 3-person teams who were trying gold for the first time, but turned out to be competent players. Hearing their reactions to the number of elites was pretty funny.

This is kind of true however I doubt there are many if any who play one class only, and if they play at least 3 it would put them over N7 50, its a good indicator how noob someone is, even if they played the demo prior, still there are certain dynamics which experience lends too, although yes gear levels would be the indicator in this individuals case, low level gear + less than N7 50 = das boot.

I let a lvl 6 soldier and a lvl 11 infiltrator go with me a 20 drell & 20 engineer. Finished it np if N7 rating is high enough and weapons are good ill let them come. Knowing how to play is more important. More often then not i complete gold without any problems.

some people kick because they dont like the class that just joined
you know people have more than one class in their stable. its a bit nicer to ask if you have anything else you can bring to the table. but i forgot, this is the interwebz. everyone is rude here.

The only time I ever really vote to kick anyone is when they're taking too long to set their status to ready and the game's waiting on them.

The multiplayer community for this game is just down right hostile.

It's not too bad compared to some I can think of.

I'd take a wild guess and say that 70-80% of players on random games are friendly and employ teamwork. :)

My 2 cents: An example of awesome was when I played a silver and probably at least two, if not three, of us- random matchup (including me) had probably never played a silver. First wave we were all over the map doing our own thing, which worked on bronze. Host went on the mic and said that we should change our strategy. Oh. Only one mic.

Next wave, everyone was covering each other, rezzing like crazy, and otherwise working as a team. With us noobs, we completed the level, and went on to play two more successful matches. Had the most fun yet in MP here. :wizard:

My conclusion: most people here are quite cool.

Yes I'm talking to you mr N7 rating <50 and trying with a character at level 15 or less and rocking your crappy SMG or Mantis on a class it just doesn't belong.

I seriously don't see why certain people even try to do gold with terrible gear/characters/experience.

I've seen players with level 20 characters and N7 rating higher than 100 and still fail at gold miserably.

Uuuh, you are a tough guy and a professional of serious business such as cover-based over-the-shoulder sci-fi shooters. Here, have a peanut, for being such an impressive person.

I invented mass effect multiplayer, you can thank me later thanks nubcakes? Now go back to your copper league (aka losing on bronze)
