When you do create a story, I think the least you could do is to create TENSION. Tension in ME3 is barely alive, aside from the Rambo moooooooooooood. Essentially everything that has been lay down in this story feels like something expected. Always.... So it's becoming boring quite quickly. That's the real letdown from this particular game. And please the dialogues are soooooooooooo cliché sometimes. Of course you need on certain occasions to feel like in known territories but you also need to be surprised and it doesn't happen.

I am really sorry to say it but ME3 is absolutely not on par with ME2 & ME1 in terms of story.
Of course the graphics, the core gameplay mechanics by themselves respond better and feel well rounded. But that's not enough, because you set the bar very high in terms of storytelling. And this is where you let all the gamers down in a sense, promising something that you did not deliver.

I don't know what you can do to improve this, aside from changing most of the writing. But the least you can do is to recognize the weaknesses of the story arc and the dialogues associated with it. It would be a first. And secondly it would be brave.

And I do hope there wasn't any "political" conflicts in your team members between the Narrative Team and The Game Mechanics Team. Because the two teams had to win in this instance. Not just one.

We didn't buy this game to just have a call of duty in space, we bought it to be in awe, marvelled and scared, by other civilisations  from space as well. I think you forgot that.

Well that's just my opinion anyway. :)

The first thing we should have seen is Shepard on a trial. Judged for what he did. But you evacuated the problem. That 's too bad. Because it would have given a chance to the players to answer for the choices they made along the way. I think it would have been great. The FIRST TRIAL within a game and this one is of GALACTIC scale. It is a challenge of course. But what a pleasure and a task it should represent for any writer.
The Reapers Invasion should have taken the stage at the end, not at the beginning of the story. The idea of expanding and gathering a space fleet is a good one. But it feels very linear on the game. The Invasion should have stayed a lot more mysterious along the game. With Reapers Commandos of some sort, opening up military front for the invasion testing the defenses. There were plenty of room for that sort of skirmish battleground. Especially for Shepard and two comrades.
By The way From Ashes was great. REALLY. It's unfortunate all the game doesn't feel like that.
