Loyal fans?  They were trying to sabotage the game since hours after release because they had a creative disagreement with how Bioware decided to end THEIR story.  They literally owe you parasites nothing.

Artists create their vision and share it; the dimwitted masses have no claim to it and no right to expect their ideas to take precedent in the creative process.  You people are just entitled brats.

So just close your doors and go home. Don't try to sell your bull**** to people, they will complain and you will go down.

in the end it doesn't matter whether it's art or whatever in the end it's us who can make it or break it

Stopped watching after he said the ending put a smile on his face. Even if I thought it was a great ending, if it put a smile on my face I would say that it had failed in it's intention.

It's the inability to defend an obviously outrageous opinion that bothers me.  Saying that you, being who you are, should have artistic control of a huge developers project is just silly.

Unsubscribed and stop visiting their site after his first rant, guess I made the right descision.

I'm not trolling, just wanted to get that out of the way.

Secondly: I'm not claiming that I have -any- control.

I'm not in the 'demanding' crowd.
I'm in the 'requesting and begging' crowd.
I don't believe I should be able to FORCE a company to do my bidding, because other wise it's just not the same.
I'm begging them to reconsider. There's a difference between a request and a demand.

Watch some of their youtube videos too. These IGN goons are becoming so arrogant that they blatantly insult their viewers and their opinions. Want to do something about it? Stop visiting their site, unsub their youtube page, write IGN to complain, and use another game site for your information. IGN is typically 10-15 minutes even hours behind sites like Kotaku.

Look at how you present your arguments, they're appalling lol.  I've yet to see a post which isn't filled with sweeping generalisations about people being 'dimwits' or 'children' or 'brats.'  Frankly it's the kind of destructive criticism Ray was talking about today.

And what am I supposed to refute?  I made a point and your rebuttal was that I'm stupid.  That's just like, your opinion dude!

By the same token though customers have the equal right not to pay for that art or future pieces.

Holding onto your principals is great but artistic principal doesn't pay the bills. Making something that people want to buy however, does.

I have no problem with that; a constructive request is what it is.  An alternate, non-canon ending as a priced DLC package isn't something I would be too offended by.

You're kind of mixed in with an unreasonable crowd, though, so don't take it personally that I lumped you in with the people making demands like this gaming world belonged to them.

The game is doing fine and the alternate ending DLC will probably be a huge seller thanks to all this publicity.  The point is to hold to their vision as well, because when you start writing for them is when I stop buying their games.

Sure thing man, I understand where you're coming from too. I don't believe I have any right per se. I just really want to beg for something different.
I understand the need to lump this whole thing together, too. It's becoming huge and inseperable.

I'm sure they'll live losing the 3% or so that feels this strongly agains't the idea and extremely estastic that they will have more customers in the next 10+ years because of this.

It's not a precedent if it's already happened. I hate to put it up again and again, but Bethesda's Broken Steel DLC for Fallout 3 changed the ending. It's already happened before. And in books, Sir Authur Conan Doyle revived Sherlock Holmes after fan outcry made him reverse course.

As far as music goes. If you're a death metal band and and tell them "this is going to be the hardest and most metal soundtrack for years," and you release a CD full of Gospel tracks (complete with choir), you've not only disconnected with your fan base, you've completely contradicted what you told those same fans was coming in said CD.

Seriously, it's like Colin "Moron" Moriarty has never heard of this amazing word called "retcon"

DC and Marvil every other year.

I personally won't be buying or accepting any alternate ending to this series because I know it wasn't the creators intent and there was HEAVY external influence.  I don't want the story the users wanted, I'm invested in Bioware's story and only their story.

But hey, it's a company and I understand the need to give people what they want, just so long as their vision remains in-tact.  It's just a shame this community of "loyal fans" decided to try to sabotage the game over it instead of giving reasonable, constructive feedback.

If I released an album with my music, and my so called 'fans' started to yell at me to change the last few tracks, I would just tell them to **** off. Really. You din't like my album? Fine, sell it. Give it away. Burn it, I don't care. But don't you dare tell me how to do my stuff.

You know what's funny?

Original artist tracks are covered and people like the new song based on their own vision better than the original in quite a few cases.

The evolving state of artistic development does not give one damn if you don't like anyone's opinion of your work. The bottom line is someone could take your work, tweak it, release it while honoring your work, and do it better than you.

So while the old guard idea of it's my work screw you might still be around, the rest of us will be listening to the new and improved version of your tracks that you refused to change.

You're entitled to your opinion and I'm entitled to say I completely disagree with it because as a rational human being, art is completely subjective and if the art is bad we as the audience are allowed to critize it, burn it, ask for a refund, and never buy from the artist again....since we can't do most of that I suppose we will have to settle for a better ending.

You don't have to like art, but if you insist on taking control away from the artist you're wrong, period.  It doesn't belong to you and it's not your right.  I personally think what you're attempting to force Bioware to do is disgusting and childish.

Still, just my opinions.  They had just better charge you all some money for this new ending.

We've always been in control of the plot (IE the art) since the first game. You can't even apply that anology because we've been part of this "Story" all along...how can you say it's wrong when we've been doing it all along

You've always had the choices they gave you and only had control within the limited scope they allowed.  They decide the different iterations they wanted to be possible, and for the definitive end I'd imagine they had a definitive result they wanted.

You still had choices and effected it, but in the end they wanted the series to end on their terms.  When a project belongs to you then you should at least have that right.

I know the IGN headline said something along the lines of Bioware changing ending. In the video, that british guy straight up said 'They are releasing alternate endings'. Do you think this is IGN's attempt to placate the masses to stop complaining?

But when I read the blog post by Muzyka, I get the the feeling that they are going to expand it, to add additional closure, but brand spanking new endings?? Where did it say that?
